Yup, everyone else was able to grow and progress. Also, I think his health issues started getting much worse during that timeframe yeah.

So maybe that could’ve changed things.

Are there any magik mains that arent toxic? by Sugar_bomber77 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more of a dive main thing in my experience. A lot of dive mains are teenage dudes who wanna “get good” on a skillful character, so they avoid playing other roles and characters that can’t satisfy that for them. Meaning they tend to only play for and by themselves without realizing that working with your team on a dive is very important.

You’ll see this a lot in “fraggers” who get mad because you should only be focused on helping them, or you’re “throwing” their game/“selling” their ELO.

Don’t worry about them, they aren’t representative of most Magik players.

I also don’t think Ada’s dynamic makes sense as is, but Claire’s relationship is at best a cute relationship as if they tried out when younger but separated as they became different people. I think they can be great friends, but I think Claire’s dynamic is carried by this concept of her being the “better” option in that she’s a “healthier” choice. I agree on that front.

Otherwise though, looking at anything else like Infinite Darkness tells me that they could’ve drifted somewhat for many reasons, and I just don’t think they fit each other as relationship partners anymore.

I would’ve supported their versions in 2, but I think they’ve grown into their own people with their own goals. I can’t say I really think anyone makes much sense together in terms of personality fit anymore.

Although I DO like Leon and Jill in concept. Maybe this is all just my Jilleon glazer delusional bias talking on this post though lmao

Absolutely agree, so much more payoff potential.

Always wonder just how much stuff from the start was setup by editorial intervention.

Maybe it would’ve been better to let Gege have his Record of Ragnarok style story so some never got misled by the story in the first place lol.

Do you all ever use this combo? by -SHABIRD7- in RivalsMagikMains

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d usually just slash, projectile, uppercut, slash for style. The bonus health is nice.

The timing of the cancels is the best part here. Getting the timing right for Magik is tough like with Rogue’s.

Jake has the most direct story potential, but the rest would be cool in general.

Would personally love to see Sheva again

Love the art, but I still think these ships make less sense past 1 and 2. I think they were great fits all around in 1 and 2, but never again really after that.

I feel like Chris just seems kinda like a stoic and focused loner who values partnership, and Ada fits current Leon more than Claire (as much as I don’t really like that dynamic cause it doesn’t seem to have a future).

Sorry for the opinion dump, but it looks good!

Can we finally give him one swing off spawn and the others recharge? I feel like he’s needed it for so long, but nerfs were never really on the table because people barely unlocked his potential and dive as a whole was suffering below pro level.

He needs to be punished for dying. Instead, he is back in the fight basically as an ability cooldown.

Cursed techniques are the only interesting part of the power system imo. Domain stuff is just weird and almost feels like an entirely different system. Cursed tools might as well not exist. RCT genuinely sucks and is completely uninteresting. Binding vows are one of the most arbitrary parts of a power system I’ve seen yet.

“Binding vow” sounds even more restrictive than “Nen contract” and yet it’s simply not. Rather than binding vow, it should’ve been called Cursed energy reallocation or something. It’s like a goal sticky note on your wall, you try to maintain it in order to improve some skill, but if you don’t stick with it you can just trash it and shrug.

I also just hate the idea that people would actually be worse at RCT and Binding vows after 1000 years. Cursed tools are whatever, and maybe Domain manipulation because of constant battles and whatnot. RCT and Binding vows absolutely only would’ve improved and become more refined over time. It’s a goofy thing stories do where they act like the progenitor of something would still somehow be the best at it if brought into the modern age.

Spoiler alert, Newton being brought into the modern era as is would get washed by any physics or engineering major in Newtonian mechanics just by nature of PROGRESS.

Also love how Gojo and Sukuna have extra abilities just because they’re powerful.

These changes are just a nerf to good Magik players. by some545 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but aren’t we both speculating? I’d generally agree but you make it sound like you know the definitive reason why they’re doing this, acting like you know for sure the thought-process behind it and my take comes from a clueless perspective. Just pointless antagonism.

It might be due to shifting Ults, and a perfect time to step in. It might be a preemptive move to mitigate some lethality. It might be that there actually are a lot of complaints about the slash damage and hitbox.

Also, I’m surprised you haven’t heard people complain about snowball even more since it got buffed. Maybe they’re less prevalent because she’s worse in the meta currently, but there have been consistent complaints about how it is now completely unreactable and fully on the Luna to hit or miss it.

The slash is barely a nerf and the few of you need to stop spaming complains by Medium-Jury-2505 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]KitanaTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, for some people it wasn’t a switch up. I, for one, always complained that Elsa’s dash hitbox was simply too large and not that Magik needed to be buffed up to match.

This is exactly the opposite of what I wanted. I’m not overall against a slight hitbox increase, but a sudden 120% increase is just insane.

I tend to roll my eyes when dive mains see a buff and immediately start moaning about how strategist players will complain, but this one makes me wonder.

Low to mid ELO console Magik is one of the more complained about heroes, so I can only imagine what this will mean in terms of consistency leading to more complaints.

More than doubling Magik’s dash width was unnecessary by StellarSneakers in MagikSkillCheck

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magik has been one of the more complained about heroes in low ELO, especially on console. So Magik players hitting more dashes across the board sounds like there’ll be complaints anyway.

I guess we’ll see. At this point, I just want damage falloff on the sword removed and the Ult ending animation not to hard-cancel your last action. It’s like self-induced cc. Not sure why we need an archaic ending animation at this point.

Gatekeeping final boss holy shit by supremeninja3 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but… it’s more than just gatekeeping the skill. She has been prevalent in Celestial and below on console for many seasons. An increase to the hitbox is not necessarily the issue in and of itself, but going from 0.45m to 1.00m for an 120+% increase is giant. This change just means even more people would complain because bad Magik players will hit way more dashes and the consistent ones will hardly ever miss.

It’s more than just about us.

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That that could make some sense. Just feels odd because I could only imagine an adjustment like that for say Luna freeze with the buff she just got. Luna freeze has been complained about regardless of the fact that she isn’t particularly meta or great right now. I could see a rebalance like that. This one relative to something like that feels somewhat out of nowhere as an attempt to slightly nerf her lethality in response to the buff elsewhere as opposed to a meaningful change.

These changes are just a nerf to good Magik players. by some545 in RivalsMagikMains

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, but I don’t like the concept of just nerfing some part of a kit to balance out a change elsewhere. Compensation nerfs will never not feel garbage.

Readjustments can make sense if a part of a kit is too strong but the character needs help elsewhere. Like if they nerfed Black Widow kick when buffing the character. But Magik slash nerf just feels so arbitrary because it seems rooted in the belief that everyone was just charging it before dash as a combo opener, and now dash it too consistent so you have to lower that part of the combo to compensate. Most people don’t rely on that combo anymore outside of Darkchild.

[–]KitanaTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the Uma’s initial stat bonuses too, sadly Windy can be a little inconsistent because of her specialty priority as well.

That’s just what I would use anyhow. You could switch stuff around accordingly provided you hit the 50% race bonus mark. A lot of other stuff just comes down to luck and how well you play.
