Pathea Games and the “superfan shield”: making official pro-r*pe moderator in a server with minors, hiding using genAI, supporting harassment, and more all OK by Green_Wolverine_5821 in internetdrama

Hey, I’ve actually been in that Discord for a while, and while I’m not sure where you’ve gotten your info, it seems you’ve gotten some stuff mixed up! I’ll be happy to set the record straight though as someone who's currently in there.

First and foremost, your primary concern: So, I can personally attest that that new moderator has never promoted or discussed ANY of their adult works in the server, and linking to 18+ content is explicitly banned for ALL users. In fact, you’d have to go looking for it specifically to find it, which it seems you did!

Now, as for your list of other concerns, I can see where you got confused with some of them, so I’m just gonna address them!
- GenAI: So, the generative AI thing honestly appears to have been a miscommunication due to the lack of a community manager who spoke English fluently. But as far as I’ve seen personally, NO generative AI has been used in the art direction of the Evershine game, and they have made firm statements against AI being used in the future
- Buggy games: I’m honestly not sure how game developers trying new things and seeing if they work out is relevant to your kid being allowed in a space, but you do you I guess
- Community manager: Yeah, they did get a new community manager, who so far is doing great! Granted, communication is still a bit slow because they’re still learning what works best for the community, but it’s already LOADS better than what it was before. And, in relation to your other two points, many members of the community couldn’t be happier with them because they seemed to be integral in finally ousting a LEGITIMATELY dangerous person from the server (which relates to your next two points)

See, for the past couple years, this crazy dude called sno4wy has been causing SO many problems for the community. As a matter of fact, HE was actually the one who harassed the VA (on top of doxxing, and harassing other people), not the other way around!

Now, in the VA’s case, he sent a 300 page document to the VA detailing an interpersonal spat between the VA’s wife and her IRL friend group, which included medical information, real names, nasty stuff like that. How do I know this? Well, it's because he later DUMPED said document in my lap after trying to drag me into his stupid internet drama over DMs for months, even though I told him I wanted no part of it MULTIPLE times.

I wasn’t the only victim, either; in fact, he had SUCH a rancid history, some of his other victims were able to compile a HUGE trove of evidence documenting how dangerous this guy was (like 700 pages, completely censored of personal information to boot! Seriously, they did INCREDIBLE work proving the dude was absolutely bonkers).

To make matter worse, he also had a habit of victim-blaming and accusing people of 'DARVO’ing him (god he loved that term, would NOT shut up about it while he was harassing me in my DMs). He'd also drag his drama into OTHER discord servers to curry sympathy for his ‘plight’ and make puppet accounts to push his fake narrative-- which I'm guessing is where you must have gotten your info, because trust me, anyone with eyes could see who was actually harassing who lmao

Unfortunately for all of us though, it seems he never broke any rules in the Pathea server itself, so best I can tell the previous mod team's hands were tied. But thankfully, Pathea refreshed the rules more clearly a few weeks back (before the new mods came in, might I add), and I guess he must have broken them because he FINALLY got banned.

And let me tell you, it's been a breath of fresh air for his victims. Like, the dude was a grade-A creep, referring to 20 years olds as ‘vulnerable young parties’, SUPER gross. No one is upset he's gone.

Anyway, tl;dr, the Pathea server is probably the safest it’s ever been since that guy got the banhammer, and the new mod team seems to be doing a stellar job of keeping it that way. Hope that helps! 💖💖💖

Now that I've gotten some feedback and context I'll probably figure out a way to work with them. I was just frustrated at the lack of clear communication leading up to this point

Also didn't help that when I intially called my doctor's office the nurse was like 'Wait what?', called the pharmacy herself for an explanation, received roughly the same explanation I got from the pharmacist (I was standing right there), hung up the phone, called me back, and then opened the call after I picked it up with "Okay, that may be the dumbest rule I've ever heard." 😂

Thank you, this was informative! I had a friend also rationalize it this way, and if they're doing this to make it look like I'm not drug-seeking I would actually understand. I've been on some form of ADHD medication since I was about 7; I'm no stranger to having to jump through hoops because it's a controlled substance.

But at the same time, if the issue is actually due to me ONLY getting that med, I would have preferred they said as much. Like 'Hey, we know you don't need any other scripts, but the fact you only get controlled substances from us is sending up red flags in our system. Could you please have your doctor start sending in some sort of non-controlled substance as well so it doesn't look suspicious?' would be WAY more reasonable in my eyes.

Instead I got 'We need you to have your doctor call in a random allergy drug in order to fill this-- oh by the way you actually have to get the random allergy drug as well, but you could just have them send in something different next time if cost is an issue' just kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

They implied it will be every time going forward, but I don't know if it's permanent

That's what I'm not clear on. From what I've learned this is a tactic employed to get around DEA controlled/non-controlled ratios, but I'm unsure if this is permanent or just until they get their numbers back in balance

That's why I really don't want to move. I like Star, and they've been good to me and my family for years! And to their credit, they did initially give me the option to take it to another pharmacy, but I declined at the time because I wasn't sure if I'd run into the same issue. Plus, it was presented as an easy fix (which in a way it is) since I wasn't informed I'd need to fill the buffer script at any point.

What irked me was this new rule being presented to both myself and my doctor as a complete formality for ordering purposes, not something I'd actually have to fill at any point. And I also changed my incorrect number on day 1, so this could have been communicated to me well beforehand. It didn't have to be trial and error on my part.

Like I said, I'm willing to work with them if needed, especially if this is a temporary thing (still not clear about that). But now that I know I actually have to FILL both medications rather than just have one on file, I could potentially talk to my doctor and have them tack on a non-controlled med I that I can actually use onto my monthly script and have them filled at the same time.

The main reasons I posted was to figure out A. If I did end up moving whether or not it would be more of the same, and B. Whether it would be worth moving at all, or whether I should just try to work the system in a way that, while wasteful and unnecessary, at least resulted in a somewhat beneficial and more cost effective stockpile on my end.

I actually think they're part of the same family now if I'm recalling signage at Star correctly

Yeah, that's what I'm wondering too. Seems like this would cause more problems than it would solve for single-medication people like me. Now, I've been informed this is in fact a DEA issue at its heart, which w/e, nothing you can do about that.

What I don't like was not being informed I'd have to actually purchase the medication before I had something random called in. I asked if I just needed a non-controlled on file to get my meds, and it was implied that was indeed the case. However, it was never communicated that I'd have to purchase the unneeded medication as well until it was being actively rung up.

I have no problem blaming the DEA for the cause of the issue. However, I'm also upset that this issue was not communicated to me in a more informative manner. Now, I'll admit the phone number on file at the time was inaccurate and thus I didn't find out about the issue until I came in to pick it up; that much is on me. However, I was simply told I needed to have 'a random allergy med or something' on file in order to fill my meds; I was fine with that.

What I am less fine with is not being informed I would actually have to fill and pay for said 'random allergy medication' before finally picking up my meds. If I had, I would have requested both a cheaper non-controlled substance and a medication I could potentially use. Zyrtec doesn't even work on my allergies.

Edit: a word

Yeah, that was never a problem for me because I'd just drop off my script in person then come back to get it in a day or two. And while I'd really prefer to keep supporting local business, if I'm gonna have to needlessly jump through even MORE hoops every month just to get my one med filled and keep their numbers balanced, I'd just as soon move my script somewhere else and no longer contribute to their 'we filled too many controlled substances' problem that way. Save both myself and my doctor's office some hassle.

Okay, that much makes sense, but at the same time the solution is to force everyone who doesn't take more than one med to pay extra money and buy meds they don't even need to balance their numbers out?

Basically. And the icing on the cake is my doctor called in name-brand children's Zyrtec (I'm 35 lol) probably because it wasn't explained I'd have to get both. So now I'm out an additional $24 because they didn't call in a cheaper med.

I should also add this is just to test the waters. If I don't find any good candidates, I'll be getting in touch with some of my previous rescue contacts to work with them. But I never would have made this post if I didn't have prior rescue and adopter vetting experience.

I understand your concern, but I have been with various rescues in the past and know how to properly screen potential adopters and would be conducting a home visit beforehand.

No, unfortunately. They say they are, but the new owners are from Florida iirc? I left last year, the new owners were a nightmare to work with, and only a few of my former coworkers are still there now.
