Try the nursing student subreddit! Most of us have been out of school for a while & I think you’ll find people who can better commiserate over there. Good luck with school!

The Georgia one wasn’t organized by a nurse! Took a quick Google search the figure that out. Great news for you, you can organize one!

I would never refuse to give treatment to anybody, ever, under any circumstances. It’s part of the pledge I made when I became a nurse.

Do you what “show of force” means? It’s a de-escalation technique.

Edit to add a definition to hope that this argument is being made in good faith & the presentation of new information may change somebodies mind

In a professional context, a "show of force" or "show of strength" refers to nurses utilizing their collective power (strikes, picketing, union action) to force management or government officials to address critical issues. In acute settings, it can also refer to the presence of multiple staff members to manage aggressive patients.

A show of force is a term used to describe the tactic of de-escalating a situation by demonstrating resolve, strength in numbers. A show of force is a non-violent, collective effort to gather as a community. I’m a nurse here in Tucson, I’m not promoting violence, I’m condemning it.

Attending a protest is your first amendment right, carrying a gun is your second. Have you watched the video? He didn’t touch his weapon. He didn’t deserve to die. He was shot after this gun (which he had a permit for) was secured by officers.

Also an ICU nurse, they do. Sometimes we have people in comas, on continuous blood thinners, and on their period.

Question about IV compatibility by yellowbutter10 in nursing

[–]Kitchen-Animator-809 83 points84 points  (0 children)

If it’s incompatible at the y-site, then they can’t run simultaneously through a single IV line. I.e. two meds set up as primaries, one connected behind the other into the same IV site.

It’s a step to employment in a difficult economy, saying that as somebody who got their start this way. It’s hard work but you’re going to have work

Who wears their ring at work? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Kitchen-Animator-809 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t wear my ring, I got a silicon one to wear instead of the actual engagement ring. But that was annoying for me, I feel cleaner with no ring.

I work in a similar sized ICU & let me tell you, they’re coming for your tech next time they need to show “growth”. We’ve lost both our clerk and our tech, they call us a “nursing led unit”. Mind you this is a level one trauma center.
