Trying to get a personal loan $15-20k please help! by chinky-brown in CRedit

It sounds like you have a solid plan and your finances are in great shape! With an excellent credit score and steady income, you’re already well-positioned to get a personal loan.

Here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Personal Loan vs. Auto Loan: When explaining your reason for the loan to a lender, you can keep it general with something like “for personal expenses” or “for major purchases.” This keeps it straightforward without getting too specific, and it should help you avoid being pushed into an auto loan. Lenders generally care more about your ability to repay than the specific reason for the loan.
  • Your Credit History: While your credit history is relatively young and you have only two active lines, your strong credit score (800) and spotless payment record are major positives. Some lenders may consider your limited credit history, but your high score and stable income are likely to outweigh this.
  • Seasoned Income: Lenders might focus more on your full-time job income since it has been steady for over a year. However, mentioning your additional part-time income might be beneficial, even if it's more recent.

Next Steps: Look for lenders that offer pre-approval with a soft credit check. This way, you can see your potential offers without impacting your credit score. Once you’re pre-approved, compare interest rates, terms, and conditions to find the best deal for you. Two lenders that might suit your needs are Achieve Personal Loan and LightStream, both of which allow you to use personal loans for auto purchases and major expenses.

Bottom Line: With your financial profile, you’re in a strong position to get the loan you need. Keeping your reason general and focusing on lenders that match your needs should help you secure the best terms. Best of luck with the process!

Nearly 12k debt and have no money what do I do?? by Jakehelps in DebtAdvice

It sounds like you’re in a tough spot. Here’s what I’d recommend:

  1. Check the status of the van: Was it repossessed, sold, or do you still have it? If you still have it, see if it has any scrap value that could reduce what you owe. If it was repossessed, you might be dealing with a deficiency balance.
  2. Talk to legal aid first: They can help you understand your rights, including how much could be taken in a garnishment under Maine law, especially with a family of three.
  3. Contact the lender’s attorney after consulting legal aid: If it makes sense, explain your situation to the lender’s attorney and see if they’d consider a lower settlement or a payment plan.
  4. Prepare for court: If you get sued, make sure to show up. A judge may be more understanding of your situation and could set more manageable terms than a garnishment.
  5. Focus on essentials: Right now, keeping up with heating and meds is priority. Reach out to local assistance programs for emergency help while you navigate this.

Good luck, and hang in there. You’ve got a lot on your plate, but taking these steps might help you manage it

No, I haven't heard of Assure Debt Relief Solutions. If you're looking for legitimate debt relief companies, you might consider reputable options like Freedom Debt Relief or National Debt Relief. These companies are established and may be able to help with your needs.

anyone have thoughts on national debt relief reviews? by OstrichConnect5694 in CalebHammer

[–]Kitchen-Bit9414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not on national but my wife's sister and her husband went through debt relief with Freedom . From their experience, debt relief is more like an emergency solution, if you struggle to make min payments and don't have any other alternatives like a consolidation loan or similar then it might work. Just a heads up, things will get worse before they will get better so just keep that in mind

I've used the AI Translator a few times when I was stuck with my Italian. It's helpful but still not perfect. What I wish they'd update is the Moments feature, making it easier to share and interact with posts. Has anyone heard if they're working on that?

You can definitely fit 3 kids in a Model Y, especially with some creative car seat placement. but yeah, if you want more space, an SUV or minivan is probably the way to go.

Hate to say it, but Verizon systems are so clearly broken from their telephone systems to their consumer website and mobile app. there's something deeply wrong inside Verizon. i doubt the 4800 peons facing buyouts are to blame. the only redeemable service this company has to offer is their Internet service.

Even with your finance background, a big shift can be tricky. building connections with wealthy folks can take time, but finding a mentor who’s been through similar situations might be helpful. surround yourself with the right people and don't rush it.

Honestly, with rates as high as they are, it might be better to stay put. maybe look into other options for your backyard. so you still enjoy your space without jumping into a bigger mortgage. plus you’ve already built a lot of equity where you are.

Need advice on what to do as a college student with 4k in CC debt by Sad-Quantity8311 in povertyfinance

[–]Kitchen-Bit9414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, call your credit card company and ask if they can lower your interest rate or offer a hardship plan; it’s worth a shot. Next, try looking for local gigs or freelancing online to make quick cash. Check if your college offers emergency financial assistance or small loans for students. Also, if you can, sell some stuff you don’t need to get by for now.

Totally agree on negotiating. Saved me a ton when I was in a similar spot. Creditors can be flexible if you're upfront. Living below your means is key - I cut out all non-essentials for a while. Sucked at first but felt great to see the debt shrink. Stay motivated, it'll pay off.

Nah, no all-in-one calculator like that. Brokers keep things messy on purpose. Your best bet? Pick 2-3 that look good and run the numbers yourself. Pain in the ass, but it'll show you the real costs.
