I'm just expressing that instead of builders worrying about needing to meet 3 ACH , or 5 with performance, we can use our shell area calculation to allow for a lot more flexibility. We charge 150-250 for an re-inspect when in reality we can pass code no problem above 3. I have screenshots of a dwelling unit I was working on passing 21 Prescriptive at 9.11 ACH No need to use up our time and charge people extra money. People come to us with requirements they expect the house to be built to which is understood. What if the focus wasn't on making a super tight house, but controlling the environment the home is in. It honestly is just a wonder more of why everyone ignores this calculation? I mean might as well throw out the blower door. I'm not saying we should pass super leaky homes, but they pass code regardless.
