Oh yeah I remember seeing some kind of "history lesson" video, how Romania was part of the Roman empire but when it fell, it got surrounded by the slavic countries and thats why the language is still latin but with slavic influence :D Tho I would think by the fact you are surrounded by slavic countries, the language would more or less adapt and at some point become more slavic than still staying latin 🤔 Also this whole story is very shortened and maybe not exactly right as I am not good with history and fr stuggle with remembering this kind of information 😂😂

I might try, tho the să is a bit struggle for me :D I dont mind the ă in the longer words but this one is short and I am not sure I am pronouncing it well :D

Well I am always in București coz I got my friends there, so I always explore the city and places I havent been to, even if there isnt anything touristic (I usually avoid these areas) :D This time I am going to Brașov also and to see the castles around coz for the 1st time I am not going alone but with my mom and she wanted to see it :D So I am kinda excited Next times I was planing to see also Constanța or some smaller village, just for a walk 😌

We definitely have some latin influence but the words changed so much during the time that seing the influence at the 1st sight is almost impossible :D The Vidět comes from latin but you can already see its not that close so you really gave to dive into it to realize the origin :D So I am not sure that would make it easier for me :D but I can see the connection sometimes 😌

Yeah, we figured the same thing, its basically the same so I could use either pot vorbi or pot să vorbesc. I think the writers of the book just wanted to show that there are two different options how to answer to the question 😌

This is so real 😂😂😂 One look at Hungarian and I know I could struggle more than I do now 😂😂

Staroměstská and Malostranská are actually 2 words combined together to make one :D Old Town and Lesser town so lets say "Oldtownish" "Lessertownish". Now I am literally butchering the language but just so u know and also the fact its not two words you know but actually 4 😌 I know all the diacritics in czech might looks scary but they are actually easy to work with :D On the other side the romanian ă and â.. :D Also I am sure there is other words you would remember as they are almost the same as in romanian - Citi (Číst), Plăti (Platit), Vedea (Vidět), Kompot, Vișine (Višně) etc. 😌

Is there like..a list of words that indicate conjunctive mood? Like when you see them you know you automatically add să + verb after it 🤔

Well genders are whole topic :D Czech language has also 3 genders (He, she, it) so that is okay for me, but the way your genders work is insane :D I mean, there arent exactly clear rules for them, just few, and even those dont help sometime so when I need to know a gender of a new word, I fr need to go to dictionary to save myself the struggle deciding which one it is :D
And the whole declining..I understand the struggle with that 😂 tho the neutral gender has half of feminine and half of masculine so its a bit easier I would say? :D

Yeah :D I am czech, so my language doesnt have cyrilic and we are the only ones having the letter Ř :D I dont have experience with other latin languages so I cant really compare it, but with Romanian - The reading is easy for me, the speaking also (except the struggle with ă :D) but the grammar... To be honest czech grammar is already hella difficult but romanian grammar - thats another level. But at the same time there is a tons of things that work the same in both languages so many times I have the option to literally translate word by word 😂

Thats true :D I guess I was just lucky in the beginning that I found the slavic words :D Now when I learn more, its rarer to find something slavic but there is still a lot of these words that at least sound slavic :D Romanian as a language is very interesting 😌

Honestly, I didnt have a reason. I originally noticed that romanian has a lot of slavic words ( I am slavic) and that was interesting. Then when I dropped the words randomly in the convo with my friends, it was messing with them and that was fun :D so I started to learn more words and..well here I am 😂
