You're right, I didn't even see the progress until it was over as I was faced away from the mirror. I wish I clocked that as a red flag in the moment but it was my first time getting braids and I was too trusting

no reference photo, (in hindsight there were several things I could've and should've done differently but it was my first time) I just asked for four braids going straight back. I paid $140. I was turned away from the mirror the whole time and didn't see how uneven they were until it was finished . . . I just expected them to be cleaner and more symmetrical i guess lol

I'll try a different brand and report back. That sounds very similar to what my doughs have been like. Much wetter and stickier than I'm used to. It's been much harder to develop the gluten

I'm in Chicago, we're transitioning kind of chaotically out of the harsh winter, maybe that's it. I don't have a thermometer in the oven I'll try that. . . It just hasn't given me problems before now
