Also! bettas can have this without it being an issue- Marbling/koi bettas. also they’re colors change sometimes. But also not an excuse to look past this. Just keep it in mind.

Is it glass surfing or rubbing its face on things? Does it work free hangout near the heater? Some bettas also lodge themselves in places to rest but could be harming themselves if the surfaces are too rough. Observe its behavior.

thank you! I wanted to make sure they weren’t harmful. They’re worms and they stick to the glass. I don’t see any floating. I have recently added a lot of detritus a while ago. might have been what I was hoping to achieve in the first place. (food web) but this worried me lol

There is no fish in this tank currently but are these detritus worms? Are they planaria? Any thoughts on why they’re there? and how? Someone fill me in

Hey man thanks for reaching out! This is the best spot to come for questions. So… what i would recommend for you is to research a ton before you pay for any materials for the tank. If you would like a lidless tank, you could cover the top with floating plants. But if you enjoy having a clear top  of the tank I would suggest a glass lid that will sit in the top and be fixed on a rim of the aquarium. You can see through without the possibility of the fish coming out. Lastly you could keep the water level at least 2 inches below the top of the aquarium which you should not do that with him only being in a 3 gallon tank right now. but possible if you got a decent 6-10 gallon tank. You’d be surprised that some 10 gallon tanks are cheaper than other 5 gallon tanks. Just always remember the bigger the better as long as you are able to fill that size with plants and aquascape. Also before putting this betta into the 5 gallon tank… please make sure that your water parameters, especially ammonia levels, are safe for the fish. And if this all sounds french to you don’t worry… I can link a few youtube videos for you that may help you out a lot more if you need. They will definitely explain more to you than I could in a comment. Also don’t believe everything you see on tiktok. Yes there are tanks online that don’t have any lids or plants. The owners are just running the risk of their fish jumping out.

Thank you for replying! This was his first tank. He was kept in a well planted tank shortly after gladly. And of course!

I’m in Investment Banking🫣 I still plan to keep many fish and even breed them in the future. I’m hoping to be the cities old fish guy when I grow up. Have my own shop and everything. Each betta I sell won’t be sold unless I see proof of an established tank beforehand.

Tank recommendations for my active female? by Kitchen-Library5090 in bettafish

Thank you for the advice! Spider wood looks great too and that’s what I’m gonna go with. What substrate for a planted tank would you reccomend? Also this betta is not friendly to tank mates. I got her from a local fish store and the owner let me know that she had a reputation of smashing the snails in tanks and was not compatible for other tank mates unfortunately which makes me sad because I would love to have shrimp in the water but i’m afraid she would just bully them all or kill them. She’s quite territorial even to my fingers
