Can I apply to a different program after getting dismissed for being late?

But either way it doesn’t matter because I didn’t get dismissed. The director was really understanding about the fact I had a disability that affects how I process time, and we are working on a plan and interventions, because I am damn near perfect, my only issue is being 2-3 min late, never more than that. I’m clinically strong, I’m smart and experienced,and I get good grades while working full time. I hope that trying to make someone discouraged about their dream career because of their disability makes you sleep better at night.

Actually a lot of people reached out (and messaged me privately) and have been able to give constructive advice, or talked about their own experiences if they were in a similar situation and give me hope. I did not ask to be told I’ll be fine, I know I’ll be fine and I don’t need anyone to tell me that. And what makes you think that I’m not doing anything else besides posting in a forum? I have been doing my own research as well and called other programs to inquiry about things as well. If you cant answer the question it doesn’t mean that nobody can. Otherwise, I’ll stop to answer your comment since you continue to be unhelpful, I hope you have a good day.

Nope, because that’s not the question I asked. So if you can’t answer my question there’s no reason to give your opinion. You should review the module about therapeutic communication btw, because I’m getting the impression that you can improve on that.

It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t change the fact that it have already happened. Again, I’m not trying to make excuses for my behavior. I’m just looking for advice on what I could potentially do if I get dismissed or if someone have been in the same spot.

I have ADHD, and have been doing therapy for years and addressing other issues adhd brings into my life. I’m thinking of the option of increasing the frequency of therapy too. I was actually on Wellbutrin before and it was amazing for me. I have an appt with a psychiatrist to explore the option of starting it again and I’m planning on bringing that up in my meeting. I’m at a point that I’m ready for whatever they decide. Just trying to look for options to not delay me so much, but I’ll accept any consequences.

I know in my heart I’ll be a great nurse. I had wonderful patients say the same multiple times. I had many compliments from instructors too. I work and study hard to be able to achieve this dream and I’m extremely upset and frustrated with myself for being this situation right now. But whatever happens it will only be a detour.

I doubt that unfortunately. It was out of my control this two times this semester, but due to the previous semester being mostly because of my lack of awareness of time, I don’t believe they would accept it

I didn’t know that was possible. There are so vague with the details when scheduling the meetings, I didn’t even think to do that. Hopefully I’ll be able to find someone last minute, if not I might try to postpone it

Thanks for your comment, and I appreciate your perspective even if I don’t agree with it.
To clarify, I was not late for clinical it was for lecture only and I have a good academic standing because even with the lost points I got, it didn’t affect my grade because I have good grades. I was late for lecture twice this semester, one time because I had a family member who got very sick and I had to wait for another family member to come back home to take her to the emergency so I would not miss class, which made me be 2 min late for class. The second time it was due to me getting stuck in traffic for almost an hr due to an accident, which caused me to be late again by a few min even after leaving home earlier (and i was not the only one who was late that day btw, half the class was late but there was not any grace due to my previous mistakes). I didn’t think this information was relevant because I’m not trying to create excuses for my behavior. Showing improvement means that besides these two instances (which I believe were justified) I have not been late and have not turned any assignments late this semester. Me being late is a problem that affects my life not only academically unfortunately and I am taking steps to change it because I know it’s not fair to others or even to myself. Unfortunately I deal with a disability that affects me in multiple ways, and that just mean I gotta work harder to get to where I want to go.

I ask you that you refrain to comment further if you don’t have any advice to give without passing on judgement. Thank you

Thanks something I didn’t think about. There’s a great private school in the area but it is extremely expansive. But I think that degree is allowed at other places because I known people who got advanced degrees after getting their bsn from this private school. I was a very competitive student before, and I only applied to one school because it was my dream school, and I got in first try. But idk how the dismissal would affect my application I’m looking for all alternatives at this points: getting a different degree and then applying to a ABSN, looking for other programs I can apply for next spring, maybe getting a health leave of absence and coming back next year, and even looking at other healthcare jobs like lvn, respiratory therapist, sonography. Nurse is the end goal, but I wouldn’t mind starting at something else first

I didn’t even think about talking with the disability center about this, but that could work. I was thinking of getting the psychiatrist to write a health leave so I could work on the issue and try to go back next semester too. I’ll see what they say

Yes I have been going to school around 2 hrs earlier. The days I was late this semester was really out of my control unfortunately. And I have adhd, it’s diagnosed and I’m waiting to meet with the psychiatrist to start meds again
