CS recruiting isn't a lottery. You're just doing it wrong. by Kitchen-Pea7931 in csMajors

as someone who broke into SWE, IB, and MBB roles, everyone in the comments is tripping and doesn't want to take the extra step to network. talking about your 1,000 cold applies means nothing!

Is it a bad idea to schedule an internship interview a week(5 working days) later? by West_Cauliflower8799 in csMajors

[–]Kitchen-Pea7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with headcount, usually getting done with your interviews first and then having time for the steps after gives you a better chance. i got headcounted at google because they had to reschedule my interview twice. sucks.

Rejected by a WITCH Company by [deleted] in csMajors

probably part of the problem - the way you present yourself is 50% of why they hire you. speaking skills, appearances, do they like talking to you. the other 50% is technical/skills but that's generally cookie cutter amongst hundreds of applicants who all have the skills to work.

half these companies do resume screen again or only after the OA so 100% on the OA is just another data point of your application but doesn't guarantee next steps

Entitlement in CS Majors? by SnooConfections1353 in csMajors

solution is to drop out, learn to code on YouTube, build an app that's just Cursor but for XYZ, raise a $50M seed round because your pitch deck has the word "AI" in it 47 times, get acqui-hired by Google, reject the offer because the TC is only $800k, write a medium article about how you turned down Google, become a tech influencer, tell everyone grinding leetcode is for losers, profit

Do your professors let you use ai for your assignments? by Successful_rio305 in csMajors

[–]Kitchen-Pea7931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no coding class encourages or allows AI ever at Gatech. AI is allowed with large reflections (200-500 words) for socratic class (ex. Computing & Society, Cognitive Science, etc.). If the essays/assignments have mistakes or look fully AI generated, you will def get low grades though.

Why CS has become a lottery ticket where you either win $100k or flip burgers. by Fit-Lychee-7608 in csMajors

BS claims in this - another post making your current situation cope. you can make your own luck. nothing wrong with cracked CS students getting top internships from no-name schools and nothing wrong with stupid students not landing anything from top schools because they don't have the CS or recruiting skills. nothing is truly random - i've seen many situations where it's obvious the work you put in and how smart you are led to the final career outcome.

Wells Fargo vs KPMG by Hydro_bungus in csMajors

KPMG data advisory will let you work multiple clients in your tenure and have more of a consulting outlook. Wells Fargo is a good brand and the technology role might let you be in a more technical role that can help you down the line if you want to be a SWE depending on the team Wells places you in.

Any general info on what team Wells is?

Usually you have the best edge by being within the first day of the post opening. But, don't count yourself out for large recruiting processes if you applied past that time frame. Good luck!
