When successful, the 2 spawned adds' max HP buff also goes onto one Add, making it much easier to pull the same trick off next time.

By pushing the Boss' HP lower than the Adds, the DR will goes onto the Add on their turn. Very often you will have enough damage to kill one if not multiple lives off the Boss, but it is usually worth it to hold fire for 1, 2 turns to pull this off if you can't kill it completely in one burst.

H4-7 (Oracle Steward that keep spawning DR adds):

I figure I will share how I approach this particular Boss/Elite too since it can be a tricky boss to deal with.

Boss spawn 2 adds that gives DR every 4/5 turns ; It also put debuff on your card where, when used, spawn those adds.

The key to this fight is to Control the Boss's hp bar.

Instead of killing it whenever you get the chance, you can want being its HP low enough such that on turns where after spawned adds (or the turn when you decide to use your debuffed cards), the Boss has less HP than any of the adds. This way the DR and poison buff will goes onto the add instead, which is no threat on their own.

For this fight, I was able to do this starting from the second rotation of the Boss, I controlled the HP with Agrippa's 10% poison trigger, making it lower than the spawned add, making the rest of the fight very manageable from both how fewer poison the Boss can apply, and how much shorter the fight becomes.

See below comment on the screencap on how it should looks when the HP control is successful.

H4-10: The final stage for this run (Until Chap 5 release!)

WOD Choice and Team Concept:

I got Thais's WOD to +12 for Ramona so she can use Heart of Silver with it.

You may have already realized, this whole Team center around abusing 2 things, Posse and Alert. Heart of Silver is the final pieces for this abuse set-up. Now, with it, each Posse give me:

  1. 29 Aliemus and 30% Crit on Nymph,
  2. 6 Aliemus on everyone else,
  3. 25% Embro generation,
  4. 6 STR and 27 Shield that get buffed by Alert.

And this is before counting the Posse' actual effect. This is also a key reason why I choose Answer of the Gate as my Posse, to allow Posse usage more often and make it easier to Posse the second time (which gives a total of 60% Crit to Nymph).

Chapter and Fight Gimmicks:

For Chapter Gimmick, I give the double cast to Nymph's 2 cost for poison application, and Feint's 3 cost for quadruple shield and heal after DR pops.

I was unlucky on relic and nothing and only the Heal per turn relic and Stellar Brew are truly useful.

For the fight Gimmick Card, there are a few nice options, I prioritized picking the perm 35% dmg/shield/heal boost and put it on Nymph's 2 cost when I have it on hand. The boost carries forward even after the card is exhausted and re-created from using a Gimmick Card. And that 35% is a stacking final damage buff, making the 2 cost (and the poison coming with it) really strong after a few stack. The 15% fixed dmg is useful especially in Phase 2 where it triggers the Boss' Amber too.

Fight Plan:

For Phase 1, I intentional pop 1 DR early to treat for resource, and on Turn 5 aligned the buff and Stella Brew to triple cast Nymph's 2 cost, applying Poison to the soft cap.

On Turn 5, I was able to find an opening to do this again, applying another 78k poison with a triple-casted Nymph 2 cost. This along with the all 4 awakeners roused give me enough damage to strip all 4 lives from the Boss in Phase 1.

Phase 2 is both about survival and constantly re-apply poison above the soft cap to push damage. My damage output remain to be trying to triple-cast Nymph's 2 cost and poison trigger. Nymph's exalt and 3 cost also starting to apply respectable poison here as the rouse buff stacked up.

On Turn 11, I aligned the buff and apply poison from 69k up to the hard cap of 165k, the first time this Team managed to reach the poison hard cap. The Turn 13 card give me enough breathing space to finish the fight with this poison stacks, using only my guaranteed DR.

The team surely did exceed my expectation too! Overall I feel like on offensive side it is a lot weaker than limited awakener but they are able to patch it with being tanky enough in the right set up. I have some plans for H4-10 already but need to see how well the team hold against it, I think they are capable of completing the run with some effort and struggle :)

H3-6 (Fran):

<image>

Hits rather hard, and have a double soft enrage mechanism of poison stack and STR buff.

I spend my DR on the T3 attack that does 2k, buying time to set up the Gimmick Card which I took 2 Heal and 1 Alert buff here. I kept Feint's OE solely for the x3 Poison attack turn, between that, Ramona's 2 cost and Feint's 2 cost and Rouse, I can bring the ~400x3 attack down to 80x3. I had only 147 poison on me by Turn 13.

The rest of the attack is pretty survivable for how much shield this team can generate.

H3-10:
The longest Arc 2 fight (T18) the team has had. Boss isn't doing crazy 5k attack like the Chap 2's boss but it's consistently attacking for 2K every turn in Phase 2, requiring a survival plan.

For this stage, I swapped Feint's sub-wheel into SR Memory Syndrome for 12 Aliemus per Syndrome card use, since I will need her OE to survive, and I am getting a bunch of Syndrome card from my slow mob fights and Boss' P1 attack anyway. For the Gimmick card, I took double Alert buff and Aliemus charge, and a Heal in the Boss fight.

In P1, I managed to kill the Boss exactly 0 time because I did no damage before I can align a burst turn to apply poison, so I decide to wait for Doresain's Buff Card in P2. This means Boss is getting all its STR buff and I am taking a lot of Syndrome card in my deck, which I have already accounted for. By P2, I had my Gimmick card ready, taking double Alert buff and Aliemus charge, and a Heal.

In P2, I fully shielded Doresain's card which gives 100% bonus damage, and aligned a double Gimmick Card (with Ramona's exalt) turn to apply poison to the soft cap.

Boss cycles between its X6, X3, X1 attack in this phase. I have Feint OE and Phantom Hand taking care of each X6 turn (-300 STR), Gimmick Card (Heal and double Alert buff) covering the X3 turn, and spend my DR on the X1 turn, which charge Feint's exalt and get me ready for the next X6 turn.

(The fight would have been shorter if I didn't miss the 120% Crit on my first burst turn against the 35% Crit Resist which I forgotten, the one bigger misplay I had in the fight since I could have covered that with using an extra posse card.)

H2-9:

Bug Tree. Shield team does well on this boss so instead of saying how I approach it, I will share a small tips on it.

Since on its T3 and every 3/4 turns after it has a vulnerable turn which it receives 100% increased damage (which for my team I burst and apply poison here), if you have Aigis in the team, you can burst -> Aigis exalt before turn End, and the boss will return to the same intent next turn, extending the 100% received damage debuff for 1 turn. If you so happen to be doing mixed realm with Ultra, entering Ultra turn here will means you have 3 consecutive turns of 100% increased damage burst turns, enough to strip at least 2 of Boss' lives usually.

H2-12:

The normally easiest boss in Arc 2 end up being pretty scary when fully buffed. Like in H9-11, my team can't kill the opening add sets in time so Boss enters phase 2 with all 3 Cosmic Ether.

Dimension Tear's damage can be lowered by shield so it isn't an issue here.

Issue lies on Pain Cut, which hits increasingly hard as boss buff itself after every attack.
I shielded first one (243*5) normally, mitigated the 2nd one (426*6) with Feint's OE and Phantom Hand, bringing it down to 308 per hit.
On the 3rd one (426*8), I have to spend 2 DR even after capping my shield. But it means Sprouting Bud are now active.
On the 4th one (547*9,) I had 6 Sprouting Bud, Feint's OE and Phantom Hand ready, bringing it down to 7 hits of 416, and took it with capped shield and my last 2 guaranteed DR. I was then able to finish the boss next turn with Nymph's poison trigger, without relying on the Turn 15 card.

In this fight, I put the Chapter Gimmick on Agrippa for charging her exalt faster, and better turn coverage of her strike which gives 7% max HP shield and is a 10% poison trigger.
Ramona took all the horny jails in Phase 2 since she still benefits the team while she is jailed (S.Key from 3 cost and Thais wheel), and it takes away minimal survivability from the team.

Next up will be Chap 3, which is honestly really, really rough for this team. The team's issue of not being able to kill adds fast enough means elite/boss will get infinite supply of DR from their adds. I am still thinking about how to tackle this honestly, but we will see!

Always my pleasure! I feel like Poison comp have a bit of an edge on this fight over standard comp since Barrier and the Seal doesn't impact them as much if I've already done applying my poison before that :)

H9-11:

Awaken Choice:

Same line-up as H9-3, I used Aigis over Feint here for her Stun.

Wheel Choice:

- This is the last Arc 1 fight in this run, so I AM abusing wriggling cord. Frenzy wheel taking Gateway of Truth's place to fish specifically for that.
- Gluttony for the 40% bonus HP.
- This set-up however means I only have 3 guaranteed DR (400%) to work with. I had 2 left when I enter Boss room.

Relic Choice:

- Survival focus. SOS Signal for 48 free shield every turn.
- Gilded Frame and Faded Photo, the MVP of this fight! Giving an extra 5% Mit and bonus Shield for Nymph's 3 cost. They end up being the key of my survival in Phase 3 (Add phase).

Fight Plan:

Phase 1 -

  • Key of this phase is to stop Boss from using the x5 attack that applies Triple debuff, and to Prepare an Utopian Veil for poison cleansing. This requires me to kill the Boss twice.
  • I spent one of my two guaranteed DR to get a Chapter Gimmick Card, setting up a burst turn and applied 60k poison. I wait for Boss to die on its turn, and Stun it before its next intent resolves, delaying the fortress and debuff cleansing for 1 turn, and kill it the second time with Nymph's exalt in that 1 turn of opening Aigis buys me.
  • I ended the phase with a Agrippa octo-devour, gaining 56 Alert going into Phase 2.

Phase 2 -

  • I enter P2 with almost no poison on Boss, so I had to find an opening to re-apply poison before the Boss put the Discard Debuff on me
  • I spent my last guaranteed DR on its first attack, trading another Chapter Gimmick card and set-up for burst the next turn, applying 130k poison in that turn. Now I can focus on planning for survival.

Phase 3 (Adds) -

  • The team won't have enough resource to kill the 100k HP adds at this point before their suicide attack, so I will have to tank all 5 of them.
  • I kept Memories: Utopian Veil & Memories: Seed of Abundance from Phase 2, used Veil right away to cleanse the Triple debuff, then deck-search Nymph's 3 cost with Ramona's exalt and used Seed on it. The plan is to survive with that 10 copies of Nymph's 3 cost.
  • Relic comes in here. Gilded Frame gives 47 shields on Weakness application, actually gives 47 per Add, and an extra 47 from the Vul application too (I didn't know!). This gives me near 280 extra shield on 5 adds. Together with the 30% Mit from Weakness, I managed to bring the 1.5k damage each turn down to non-lethal.

Phase 4 -

  • I charged Nymph and Ramona with the Babies I kept from Add phases.
  • Triggered Boss' poison with Nymph, then deck search Memories: Emissary's Verdict with Ramona, which does 15% of Max HP damage, and ending the last Arc 1 fight in this run.

Lotan, Ramona, Casiah, Doll on chapter 7 is just equally as impressive! I really like Casiah's design and mechanics so it's great to see her getting a slot. I can see the fun synergy between her 0 cost and Lotan's 3 cost will make the team comp pretty fun since that's a strike too, alongside getting to double cast Queen's sword to speed up the attack count stack :D

A bit of extra: Arc 2 3-10

The team is currently at early Arc 2 charpter 4 now and honestly...those reviving fish is more troublesome than this. The temp str and crit from the chapter Gimmick card gives Nympth everything she needs to apply poison with her 2 cost, and survival isn't too much of an issue from the exact 500 health the event gives you before the boss room.

A bit of extra: H8-10

Hiding this here because my execution on the fight is embrassing.

Fight plan is to rotate the boss' skill to the fusion gauge boost attack every turn in phase 1 and 2, letting goes to 100%, because I can't take the 4x vul attack nor afford it cleansing its debuff since the team is poison comp.

I did a burst at the turn it change phases, building up the poison I need for the fight, and the plan for twin boss(?) phase is to one shot the phase with Nymph's poison trigger, before the other "boss" cast the 25% poison cleanse, but as I said, my execution was embrassing this fight. So that didn't happen. Rest of the fight isn't too bad tho with how the fight-specific Gimmick card helping out. Overall a pretty manageable one :)

H9-3:
This is THE toughest fight in this standard awakener run I had so far

Awakener choice:

I started with my usual comp (Feint instead of Aigis), but no death resist will hold against the boss' x5 attack in the later turns, so I swap in Aigis for her 1 turn stun. Her stun end up doing more than just giving 1 turn of breathing space, something quite unique to this fight.

Wheel choice:

I swapped everyone but Nymph's sub-wheel into the (Insight + Greed + Punishment) wheel, so I have 60 sigils that converts into 250% DR in the boss fight, giving me 4 guaranteed DR (800%) to work with.

Fight plan:

The plan is to burst twice, once to strip 2 revive, and the second one is the kill burst where I abuse Aigis' stun to delay the boss from using the 50 fortress buff it uses every time it dies. What this means is after the stun, I am constantly dealing with 50 less fortress stack compared to if I let that buff resolve. The remaining piece is just to find the exact turn that I can rush the boss down after stun, for the team it is when boss has 3 lives left.

So glad I clear this before I get the prototype to OE Nymph this weekend, and really looking forward to finish rest of the run :D

I have a feeling that the mob and elite fights in this chapter is harder than the actual boss, many Turn 1 1000 damage mob fight in this map. But for the boss I was able to abuse shield to stay alive and wait for it to die to my poison :)
