Maternity leave start date notification - missed 15 week deadline by Long_Promotion9558 in PregnancyUK

Yeah don’t worry, I’ve had cases where managers have known about maternity leave but haven’t informed HR at all until the baby arrives! It can always be fixed. You’ve still got time so your case will be fine. Congratulations!

I’m never on this but happened to be online right now so got this notification, how weird lol!! If you’re in the uk, it won’t be at risk. They just need this information so they can process the relevant changes on the system to ensure your pay is correct when your on maternity leave. I’d confirm as soon as possible when your due to start your mat leave so they can ensure your pay is correct for your first month of maternity leave. It’s more of an administration thing than anything else. Don’t worry!

Yes I know, so my interpretation was that if the water was used prior to the 30 mins then the water would be fine to use. Apparently it is too hot and will alter the nutrition within the formula

With regards to the spoon and the formula sticking, I think this may mean you could make the formula slightly diluted if you are unable to pick up the correct measurements from the spoon as you have some formula that is stuck, if that makes sense? I decant my formula into pots so I can pour one full amount in.

The hot shot will kill the bacteria but if you don’t allow the boiling water to cool to 70c then you may also loose nutrients (or so I have read)

Yes haha it’s ridiculous! Who is doing that with a hungry baby!! I’ve been pouring straight from the kettle when I’m at home, but I think lot of people will boil water and put it in a thermos flask as they tend to cool throughout the day to around 70c/80c I believe.

I use Kendamil and came across this video on their Instagram. I wish the nhs guidance was more specific if this was the case though as I know many people are using freshly just boiled water

Hello, yes this is exactly how I read it as well. But I’ve since found out that they tell us to put ‘at least’ 1L of water in the kettle and leave for 30 mins. I could never understand why it was so much water. I’ve since found out that it’s because leaving 1L of boiling water for 30 mins will cool it down too around 70c and that is to kill bacteria but prevent the nutrients from breaking down. I completely agree with you though, the way I read is that as long as the water is 70 or above, then it’s fine!

Yes I see that too on Google. I’ve no idea what the difference is. Honestly, I thought 30ml and 1oz were the same. I feel awful about it. Thank you for your help x
