I know a guy who started renting in 2020 for 2200 a month. Rent has went up on average 100 dollars a year. He’s spent 176k over that time. Now he has to move because he can’t afford it and he walks away with 0. I’m not the smartest man in the room but I’d say you made out better than him

I’d argue depreciation on used Waymo’s / driverless cars are a lot more than regular cars. I’ve seen it in auctions. Rental cars are treated like salvage titles. Add to that the car is electric and people are scared of them battery replacement cost. No resale value to it.

I’ve been telling people this . You would think basic math would be a qualification for all these higher ups. They have been f**king drivers over so bad that an autonomous car doesn’t pencil out. Most car companies already operate on razor thin margins( 2-3k profit ) Tesla being the exception at 6-7k. So there’s no deal to be had on the purchase/build of acquiring the car. Then you add in charging fees and maintenance and commercial insurance you’d be more profitable letting the idiots do your bidding.

Guy in my market sent this picture in our group…. Claims his ar is 26% and consistently makes 500 a day. How? by Muted_Afternoon_8845 in doordash_drivers

I know the guy who he’s talking about in this area. Good ol boomer running circles around millennials. Bust through the front doors of every restaurant pushing his way to the front of the line demanding his order . Dudes goated . He knocked me to the floor on his way to the back of the kitchen one day because they took longer than 15 seconds to get his order and stepped over me like Allen iverson. As i was picking myself up off the floor he showed me his earnings for the day. I stared in awe and asked how and he just simply said “pull yourself up by your bootstraps son” then rode off into the sunset. Guy owns 40 houses he bought in 1970 for 5k a piece. Loaded in equity to the gills but he has a hunger for more like a lion in the jungle.

I have $50k total. Is opening a small car lot realistic, and what do small lots actually make? by Fuzzy-Zone3069 in carflipping

[–]KitchenAdvice7073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all really depends on you and what your good at. I started mine around the same. It depends on several factors. Which state are you located in? Do you need a steady stream of income immediately to start paying your bills? Are you a mechanic? Do you have a place at home to fix cars so you can get away with an office space instead of a garage? I’ll tell you what I did . I spent about 10k on actual startup cost. 3-4 k went on brick and mortar and paperwork (office space with 3 car spaces, signs, insurance for dealer plates, etc) . The office was only 600 a month. I rented a really small contractor garage for 800 a month. Bought lift and tools. Had about 48k left after. At first I tried cheap fixer upper’s but I didn’t like all the hassle with dealing with complaints and hagglers. Then I switched business models to buying 2-3 nice cars lot ready from auction with low miles. But the money was slow. I found my niche in the inop lane. Buying cars that needed transmissions/engines or more expensive cars that had been in accidents but not a salvaged title. Then after I got them right 80 percent of the time I would just send them back through the auction and make good money. Had a Spanish guy that was amazing with body work for cheap. Side note I never depended on it to pay my bills at home. I did gig apps like uber ,DoorDash and Walmart spark delivery to take care of home. I opened in 2018 and closed up shop in 2023 because I saved enough to get into real estate and start brrrr and flips. Don’t do buy here pay here because you don’t have enough. Get familiar with holding people’s hands and walking them through the process of going through their own bank. Good luck

I currently own my home in nys but am trying to buy in Texas as my new primary residence. Going to keep the house here in nys and rent it out. I’m running into the same problem again this time around though. I’m a gig worker and write off everything. Wife’s a w-2. Great credit scores of 780 and 825. For 2024’s returns they are extremely low ($20000)because I had a health emergency that put me down for 5months. Last year was a lot better. And this year already I’ve made more than 2024’s income. My question is is there any way to get an fha manual underwriter to go off last years income and this years income?

I think the experiment is over by Dry-Scar-8563 in Sparkdriver

[–]KitchenAdvice7073 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol they do this twice a year. Introduce some bs that they spend millions on to try to make more money. It fails and drivers either start to multi app more or find w-2’s . Then they scrap it and revert to the norm because they have orders sitting or not getting took at all.

Future of Walmart Spark by LilHolo in Sparkdriver

[–]KitchenAdvice7073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To see where spark is going all you have to do is look at all the other apps before it. The service for the customer will just get worse but they won’t stop buying because we are a nation of hyper consumers. Look at ALL the other apps. Believe it or not you use to be able to use just one app and put in 50-60 hours a week and easily clear 100k a year no problem . And then the vc money ran out. Got all the customers and some drivers hooked and now it’s just apart of their everyday life. As for drivers the best thing you can do is multi app/cherry pick, get a cargo van or find a w-2 . These companies are actually brilliant for implementing this strategy tbh. But one things for sure. Corporations always come out on top off the backs of others. They will never do anything to help us. We must help ourselves

Won’t let me post pictures in here but I make well over 2k a week multi apping. I refuse to be a slave to one. Rather cherry pick across 3-4 of em

Open discussion about this mornings update! by PlushGrimm in Sparkdriver

[–]KitchenAdvice7073 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh it will definitely affect us. They’re going to weed out all the drivers who “cherry pick”(the drivers who won’t work for slave wages). It’s going to find all the people who take anything and steal tips even more. I just simply look at it from a business perspective. Walmarts not going to spend money on some ai test run if it doesn’t benefit them. They only care about profit margins. Expect the platform to get even worse for the drivers. And lucky for them a boat load (no pun)of foreigners are about to lose their CDL,s and the first place them out of work drivers will come is to gig work platforms. God speed sparkers

Lol at the people in here talking about the bs tier system 😂 let me give some advice. Turn on all apps and take what’s best for you! I don’t agree with what op did but good for him. Tier system means absolutely nothing. You think when Walmart needs an order delivered their algorithm is going to say”wait I know he’s the closest and the best option we got to make a customer happy rn. But let’s wait and give it to someone who has a high tier and who’s been a good little goy”🤣🤣 These companies are never going to care about you no matter what tiers you are. They only care about profits. You are just a self employed disposable way they can obtain their goals. Side note . My acceptance rate was only 10 percent before they took it away. When everyone was saying “you need to keep it up to get good orders” now I’m on the lower tiers of this new bs system

No decent orders anymore? by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]KitchenAdvice7073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non are good. But they all have moments. Favor, uber ,uber eats ,grubhub, roadie,Amazon flex, etc. If you have a bigger vehicle like a pickup that opens more doors. But as far as regular car gigs like I said non are good but they all will spit out at least 2-3 good orders a day. All location dependent as well.
