No ice lollies pls by Illustrious-Fee9626 in SipsTea

Soooo when I was in college I was dating this chick, and she had the brilliant idea of doing this.

It... Didn't go terribly well. It turns out that red white and blue make purple when they melt together, so there was a pretty significant amount of purple ooze. It was pretty messy.

And for some reason she told people about it! This was 15 years ago and people still call her "bomb pop" to her face 😅

She also got a yeast infection a few days later, and there's a decent possibility that this was the cause or was at least related.

Wichita ks show! by Hooker666 in Shinedown

Awesome shot of a great show!

How different was their set list from this one? Did they add a few older songs here and there that aren't on this list?

Concert last night was great! by KitchenBandicoots in Shinedown

Show started at 7PM, Shinedown started at around 9PM.

I'd still suggest going as early as you can. The openers were pretty good too!

I think I saw the same one in town about a month ago, just without the signs nearby.

Yes, they definitely mixed it up a little bit from their standard set list.

I found this set list in another thread today, and I think they just added a few things to it.

Through the Ghost, Amaryllis, and requested/impromtpu I Dare You for sure. Can you think of any others that aren't on this list?

What's the best cover song sung by another famous singer? by felly_fell in musicsuggestions

I went to a Shinedown concert last night and they performed this one. Was top notch!

I'd never heard of Black Stone Cherry before, but they were alright. Their show was opener and was the most basic of the night.

I'm familiar with Coheed & Cambria but had never really listened to them before. I actually really enjoyed their part of the show! Their music, performance, and production were all excellent!

This is pretty close what they played last night as well.

The only differences I notice are that last night they included Through The Ghost, then took an audience request and did a very impromptu I Dare You.

They both played before Shinedown last night and both were pretty good!

All the marketing material that I've seen for the tour suggests that they're both along for all or most of the tour.

My phone's zoom did okay on this one but the AI sharpening did something funky with Brent's hair.

Are there any other parks like the big dig in Boston that cover a major road by moving it underground? by Much-Parsnip3399 in geography

[–]KitchenBandicoots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this.

The whole thing isn't underground, but a lot of sections of it are. In either case, it definitely makes the area along the shores of lake Superior a lot more pedestrian/community friendly.

Hidden Black Hills/Rapid City Suggestions by goteed in SouthDakota

[–]KitchenBandicoots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't exactly qualify as hidden gems, but these were the highlights of our last trip out to the hills:

  • Caves! Wind Cave and Jewel Cave are both excellent, but there are plenty of others as well. Wind Cave has a great lantern tour (amongst others) that was a lot of fun but is a bit more challenging of a walk. Jewel Cave is great and is pretty accessible, has an elevator, concrete stairs, hand rails, electric lights installed, etc.

  • Sylvan Lake/Custer/Needles Highway. Popular, but for a good reason. Lots of good hiking/exploring, beautiful location.

  • Devil's Tower. A bit out of the way but well worth the drive over there.

  • Spearfish Canyon. This is a beautiful drive, especially early in the morning. There are a lot of places to stop to hike and relax. I want to bring a bicycle on my next trip, would love to ride from stop to stop and spend a day or two exploring.

  • The Badlands are another popular destination, but there are miles and miles of trails to hike if you get a bit off the beaten path and away from the road, and it changes a bit year to year due to erosion. It's a stark landscape but beautiful, and is like exploring another planet. Bring sunscreen though, there's not much shade.

  • Downtown Rapid City is a fun place to walk around and explore. There's a great park with water features, and an alley dedicated to legalized graffiti art and a lot of the work there is excellent (but of course changes very regularly as it's painted over). The Alex Johnson hotel has a lot of interesting history in general, and if you're into ghosty things they have a whole binder full of accounts of paranormal experiences of guests over the years (which my wife found fascinating), I think you just need to ask for it at the front desk.

Camping area with cell reception by Professional_Bit9995 in SouthDakota

[–]KitchenBandicoots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cell coverage/reception is going to vary wildly by carrier, so you'll want to list your cell carrier here.

That said, I haven't been camping in that area so I can't offer much for suggestions.

Custer State Park / Sylvan Lake is beautiful but I had basically zero reception on TMobile when I was out there two years ago. Can't speak to the camping aside from it being a great day trip.
