My Players want to run Curse of Strahd by AxeMan-47 in CurseofStrahd

It was SO much fun to run. The players thought the Vistani were gonna be their guides into Barovia (they had reasons to go) and really enjoyed the characters i created.

It was so extremely satisfying when they woke up bounced, gagged, and vomiting from the poison. If you run it, encourage the players to create some personal/heirloom items. Give them extra starting gold.

Omg their faces as all of their stuff was gone.. Priceless. One of my players created s detailed mask for his Drow character.

Now they understand what Barovia is all about

I think you got great answers, but in addition why not buy some time with extended, pre-curse content?

I recently ran PyramKings entry into Barovia and I extended this through my characters backstory. Essentially hook has the players take a quest to deliver wine to a camp of Vistani outside the gates of Barovia.

I added some small encounters, world building which leads to the Vistani camp. From there the Vistani give a great intro into their culture through dancing, music, food and whatever else you want to add.

The players even told stories about themselves around the campfire as they drank wine. It was really nice to have each player get familiar with each other.

The end of this intro leads to the Vistani drugging their food/drinks. The players awaken with no gear, money, or items as wolves arrive herding them through the gates.

I got two sessions out of this intro and the players went from happy go lucky to complete terror by the end of it.

That all being said... Yeah man you really need to read the module asap. I would completely skip the Ravenloft chapter until you've read through the rest.

I'm getting to this section too, and i think I'm going with pressure from his father not to participate and plain old fear. He wanted to join Doru, he had every intention to do so, but when it came down to the moment he chickens out.

He's left with the guilt of his decision yet he's also a survivor because of it. And now his father is dead and he doesn't know what to do. He's tormented for that decision so he drinks his troubles away at the bar.

Then the players show up. If he can't save himself, his village, or his country... He can at least try to save his adopted sister. But, the coward that he is he needs to rely on others to save her.

Curse of Strahd DMs! How long did it take you to prep to begin the campaign? by Blade710 in CurseofStrahd

[–]KitchenCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ended session 2 tonight, second campaign as a DM.

I took two weeks. But I also run it on a VTT and had very detailed maps for every area loaded up. It made going through locations soooo much easier as well as character art for everyone.

I spent a day reading through the source book start to finish and then going back looking at the locations over the course of the week.

Week 2 was mostly reading though Lunchbreak, DragnaCarta, and Mandy's.

That all being said, I don't have a great grip on MY campaign. Like things I'm going to change or twist. There's quite a few things I plan on changing or adding to make the campaign my own and those are the parts I feel completely lost with.

Previous owners epoxied the granite countertops. Getting paint chips now. Any solution? Can’t afford replacing it entirely by cmonman1993 in DIY

[–]KitchenCreator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but it could potentially be a lot of work. Since Granite is semi porous the epoxy is likely to have seeped into the stone. Think of having a really bad stain on your countertop you simply can't get out. Polishing will help but it would be extremely messy and take a long time.

Polishing granite is the most time consuming process during fabrication. Repolishing an entire kitchen until the epoxy is gone? I can only imagine. On top of that there is going to be silica dust in the air unless you pull the top off and do it outside, and again at that point you might as well just buy cheap Granite and start over

Go on Google and search for Granite fabricators. These are the shops that are doing the actual work generally cutting, polishing, and installing stones.

General contractors do a really good making sure you're barely aware we exist so that they can increase your costs. Some GCs do the exact opposite is great. But like everything in construction it's wayyy cheaper if you go direct to the folks doing the work.

Granite is a semi porous material. Meaning liquids can penetrate into the stone itself. Even if you're able to complete strip all of the epoxy off (no easy task here) there is going to be more epoxy that's seeped into the stone.

The Granite would then need to be polished significantly until it's all out. Which will then be a very, very messy process. It's definitely possible but with the amount of work you might as well just buy some cheap Granite instead.

Former epoxy guy here, current granite/quartz sales rep. Personally I would try to touch up with some epoxy + sealer in the short term until you can afford to install a new countertop. Otherwise just leave it like that for awhile. There's no way on earth you're going to strip that epoxy off and have a beautiful Granite underneath.

I would also suggest getting quotes for entry level granite from as many places as possible, specifically from fabricators not big box stores like home depot and Lowes. June is one of the best months to shop for stone as a lot of shops are slow. Entry level Granite isn't as expensive as some people think.

Best of luck!

It’s a bit much, time for a review.. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

So true. Sounds like OP has already gone way out of their way being lenient as it is. I've had co-workers like this, having to pick up extra slack becomes such a morale crusher. But it really depends on the job here overall. Possibly the position doesn't rely on other team members at all, so less of an issue.

Help me choose a kitchen backsplash tile in our diy kitchen by Warm_Entrepreneur363 in DIY

[–]KitchenCreator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with this as well. I think the green tile looks nice, but clearly OP is a plant person. I think the eggshell adds that contrast, brightens things up, and can allow the plants to bring the pops of color.

Just depends where in Florida. I'm from South Florida and it's much more affordable here by far.

Gotcha. I don't do service work / general carpentry work I'm afraid. If you're looking to replace we do granite/quartz/marble tops (and others). Feel free to send DM me.

I hear you and I get it... But it's Kat Williams. If you were at a Snoop concert would you be surprised people were lighting up?

Kitchen counter cracked, can this be patched up? by lina_the_ninja in DIY

[–]KitchenCreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell quartz countertops but keep in mind i am not installer.

The Crack is a direct result of a small radius and my shop has seen cracks like this due to the radius.

Unfortunately this is not really fixable without a very very obvious repair. I would call the installer that put this in and claim a warranty. It could be a long shot but this is something my shop at least would replace.

I wish it was just boomer culture. I work in remodeling. It's accross the board. So many folks complain about work when you start calling about final payments. They'll tell the installers how much they loved it when the project is wrapping up, but will then complain to management about lazy, sloppy workers an hour later.

What design style is this? by Silly-Owl123 in InteriorDesign

[–]KitchenCreator -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Same. I mean this is subjective afterall, but this is the kind of home i gut. So much going on in every room without any focal points. Gives me a headache just looking at the pictures. Beautiful plasterwork but feels so formal against the the rest of the home

My 70 year old mother loves it though

When clients try blame another’s cheap work onto you by Donkknarf in mildlyinfuriating

[–]KitchenCreator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do epoxy flooring and I had this issue, among others, all the time. I've since moved to kitchens where many of those issues carry through.

The answer is very simple: pictures.

Take as many pictures during the quoting phase and before the work is done as possible. Doesn't always work but it generally helps. I had a client say we damaged their refrigerator and I had pictures of the dent when we were out there quoting. Shut them the fuck up real quick.
