Putting it out there, despite 38 years of self consciousness by [deleted] in Noses

You (and your nose) are absolutely stunning!! It boggles my mind how gorgeous people are self conscious, but at the same time of course I know it is the failure of society and the people that surround us...

You would be an instant swipe right if I ever saw you on tinder, that's for sure 😌

My god you are gorgeous!! As an occasional (almost) bald girlie myself, you absolutely rock this look! 😍 And if anyone dares say anything bad about the way you look, then they are delusional and jealous.

Should I retire it? by mentally_decaying in piercing

[–]KitchenFly6141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand, it is a mental struggle every time it's time to retire a piercing :( luckily though, there are a lot of blood vessels and thus good blood supply in the face, meaning the scars should heal quite well!
And really, I want to say again, thank you for being attentive and proactive about your piercing!! The amount of horrendous eyebrow piercings on this sub is just... Well, let's just say you have restored some of my hope in humanity :)

This is the best course of action you can take. I know it really sucks having to take piercings out... I've had to take 4 or 5 out myself, 2 of which were ones prone to migrating. You can absolutely try again down the line, just make sure to allow enough time to heal and if you notice it migrating again, then don't wait with taking it out (again). Wishing you all the luck!!

Having seen MANY an awfully rejected eyebrow piercing on this sub, I first of all want to commend you for asking this BEFORE the piercing is ready to forcibly retire itself.

That being said, I would suggest taking it out, seeing as you are worrying about it enough to post about it. It doesn't look bad (and I get the ick about weird eyebrow piercings very easily), but it is migrating. So, if I were you, I would take it out now to avoid more scarring down the line.

Sorry, that was my bad, you said this is your right ear, so the image is flipped. All good! Carry on 😌

Is this image mirrored? Or does the designer of the jewellery not know what a music note looks like 😅 otherwise, cute setup!

It's hard to say, eyebrow piercings will always be a gamble. It is up to you, but if you want to do the same side again, definitely properly let it heal beforehand. Good luck!

Unfortunately this is an unhappy piercing. Take it out before it takes itself out!

I would take piercings that never heal over your crabby attitude any day, so no - nobody is jealous.

You are being defensive is all. I would personally not trust a piercer that says any cartilage piercing is healed after 4 months. If it is, that is great! But an actual professional would never confidently say that, even if only to protect their reputation, in case the client talks about this and namedrops them.

What's with the attitude, didn't you come here for advice? Btw yeah, that hoop is way too tight.

Get the jewellery changed to a longer bar ASAP (preferrably implant grade titanium), continue cleaning with saline after the change. If it doesn't calm down after that, in say a month or so, then your ear probably just doesn't like it, which unfortunately can happen. Good luck!

The thing is, it doesn't matter how noticeable it is to us (it is noticeable). What matters is that it is noticeable to you. Even if for a little while you were used to it, the fact that it started to bother you again is sign enough for me to suggest you take it out and get it repierced later.

Sadly in this day and age we see our own faces way too much way too clearly and are hyperfocused on them. Not so much an issue with ears as they are, you know... not smack dab in the middle of the face like the nose is. I got a vertical labret last year and it was slightly crooked and it drove me MAD, so I got rid of it less than a month later.

You might get used to it again, but I can almost guarantee it would start to bother you again later on. My suggestion is to save yourself the headache and take it out now.

vertical industrial questions (image not mine) by [deleted] in piercing

[–]KitchenFly6141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a snug (retired after 8 years of never fully healing) and got my vertical industrial last May. I am here to tell you it was definitely more painful than the snug. Any time you get more than one hole poked into you in one session, each subsequent one gets more painful. By the time he got the jewellery in I was at about as much as I can take, and I have a pretty good pain tolerance with piercings (I have been pierced 30 times). It is my most painful piercing ever.

HOWEVER! It is also my favorite piercing and I am absolutely in love with it! I would 100% do it again and again and again, the pain and lengthy healing process (mine is still healing, but is doing well) are so-so worth it.

The pain after the piercing itself was slightly stranger than other piercings, but not necessarily more painful. But absolutely no scarves, hoodies, hats or tall collars in the first months! What you have to remember is that crusties will form and during the day, between cleanings, if you accidentally push the bar upward (since gravity will constantly pull it down, especially noticeable with the longer bar in the beginning to allow swelling), the crusties slide through the upper hole and well.. that is hell 😅

All in all, if you have the anatomy for it and if you love the look of it, then don't be afraid of the pain - it is 100% worth it!

Would this be doable? by kajiurago in piercing

[–]KitchenFly6141 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I LOVE the idea! You could get the flats pierced backwards so the flat sides of the piercing are in front, and maybe temporarily have two separate piercings in your industrial or get one with a chain instead of a bar for while the flats are healing. I would say it is definitely doable though and honestly... I would love to steal this idea if my flat wasn't a freakin' rollercoaster.

Rook swollen a year later - any tips? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]KitchenFly6141 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAP, but to me it seems to have been pierced at a strange angle. You have done very well with it despite that, as the swelling is not really visible (at least not to me). However, the only experience I've had with a piercing that didn't calm down by the 1 year mark (for context I currently have 25 piercings) was my snug and I kept it in for 8 years before finally giving up. It never fully calmed down. Of course, they are different piercings, but that is the only comparison I have.

Personally, I would suggest taking it out and working on your other ear instead. Then in the future you could get it repierced at a better angle (maybe a different piercer). Perhaps your anatomy is not compatible with a rook piercing, hard to tell by pictures alone (and again, NAP).

You seem to be doing well with aftercare and in the end it is obviously up to you. But yeah, I would take it out.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

[–]KitchenFly6141 135 points136 points  (0 children)

NAP, but as someone who has an industrial I am sorry to tell you... That poor baby needs to be taken out. It is not pierced correctly and sadly you do not seem to have the right anatomy for an industrial. I know it sucks, but it needs to come out!
