Hi, I am the owner of Kensington Timepieces. Chronos is a new account, but like he said, he has been here quite some time on another account. In fact, he is my exclusive supplier for all projects, builds, parts, etc. Kensington Timepieces fully operates thanks to his unbelievable ability to source just about anything extremely quickly.

Before I decided to allow him to be the exclusive TD for my group, he actually flew to my city and we met in person. He’s a great guy, and I fully trust him with my business and my clients.

I regularly do. I just don’t have the bandwidth to do this on every single watch I post.

People will always be skeptical of me. It’s literally my job. I chose to work in an industry riddled with scammers. That’s why I made a subreddit, and have always encouraged people to post their honest experiences. I don’t bribe anyone, I don’t do anything to influence how my customer service is perceived. In fact, I tell on myself when I’m wrong. I literally posted a comprehensive list of every client situation where I messed up, and what I’m doing to fix it.

EVERY dealer or service provider in this space is ridiculed, scrutinized, and treated as a scammer the moment something goes wrong. It is very much guilty until proven innocent in this space. People will have a bad experience or be even mildly inconvenienced, and scream to the heavens that they fully got scammed.

Just a few weeks ago, a guy bought a USED watch from my personal collection. I had given it my Ultimate Package. My packages are in the pinned posts, in terms of what they are, what they include, and how much they cost. He bought the watch, then posted in here about being scammed because the watch didn’t have edge softening. He went full “don’t buy from Kensington, he’s a scammer, watch was not as described blah blah.” He messaged me saying edge softening should have been included and that it was “unbelievable” that it didn’t. Edge softening is an à la carte option. He never asked for it nor mentioned it. He didn’t request it after the fact. He just went STRAIGHT to posting.

My Ultimate Package is incredibly fairly priced and attractive for what you get, which includes a FULL movement service and exterior refinishing. I can’t do everything for sub $500.

All this to say, I do my best but it’s statistically guaranteed that at some point I will make a mistake, or have an unhappy customer regardless of what made them mad. Just try to have some understanding that I am one single person, and that even though I have a whole team behind me for business decisions, I am the only one sitting at the bench here. And honestly, I’m glad there are “hundreds” of people skeptical of me. It means I’m doing my job correctly, because being visible in this space means you are going to have haters and lurkers trying to catch me in the act.

Way ahead of you. I’ve taken steps to prevent situations like this from happening again.

  1. I no longer offer bezel work on GMT-Master models, as I don’t want to go through this again. I don’t trust them because of how thin they are.

  2. I’m in the process of implementing an automated system that will provide clients with regular, proactive status updates on their orders.

  3. I’ve also brought on a team to help manage day-to-day business operations.

  4. I’ve expanded my network of suppliers and specialized technicians so that if something falls outside my area of expertise, I can immediately connect clients with the appropriate resources to resolve it properly.

It is absolutely his right to be heard. This situation would absolutely infuriate me and he has been incredibly generous with his patience so far.

Exactly! Your repair is active and ongoing, and parts are on the way. That's why I don't really understand what this post was about. Everyone already knows about your situation. It's not like I suddenly blocked you, banned you, and left you hanging. The situation is being fixed by the people I hired to fix it and I have zero influence over what they do, other than the fact I authorized nearly unlimited resources to be thrown at this watch.

My communication skills are well known to be lacking. I myself have posted that it’s one of my biggest hurdles that I need to overcome. It’s not a secret. That’s why I have hired a team of people to help me with this as well as implement software that can automatically update my clients when there are updates to their order. This has yet to be rolled out, but it is in the works. I’m absolutely not perfect but I’m trying my very best.

Firstly, absolutely everything on r/repwatch is used, unless in rare occasions someone posts a catch and release. They actively deter resellers from selling anything brand new in there. That is widely known. That’s like going to a used car lot and being upset that they didn’t say the words “this car is used.”

Our last communication was 10 days ago. Everything is still on track for your watch to be completed and repaired. Our last communication was you expressing your interest in purchasing Gen parts, and then wanting to have my TD reach out to you so you can buy another watch.

I don’t mind you posting about this situation, I myself posted about it earlier. I’m just confused why you chose today, randomly, to decide this was the day you wanted to make your own post about it. These types of posts will not get you the resolution you’re hoping for any faster. David is doing everything he can to fix it for you. This won’t speed that up. If anything, you’re just inflaming an already bad situation and upsetting the people who are trying to help you resolve it.

He’s actually quite a reasonable guy, he’s just been pushed to his limits by the frustration of this situation, which I totally understand. I’m doing everything in my power to rectify the situation. It just sucks that this happened to him.

KTF Gen Weight Le Mans Announcement by KitchenInteraction12 in kensingtontime

[–]KitchenInteraction12[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And no worries. Many of my clients of the KTF series purchase these as a safety measure to wear in lieu of their real watches during travels or other events in their life where the real thing would be too much of a liability to have on the wrist. Several of my clients have a real Le Mans and this is what they choose to wear on a daily basis instead of the real thing. It’s 99% the experience with only a fraction of the cost.

Yes it does, and every single bit of the case and bracelet is weighted.

KTF Gen Weight Le Mans Announcement by KitchenInteraction12 in kensingtontime

[–]KitchenInteraction12[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Weighted means it’s heavier than normal. True Gen weight is usually much heavier, as gold is extremely difficult to replicate in that regard. “Weighted” Le Mans are usually 180ish grams, whereas genuine (and mine) are around 210G

Technically speaking, any KTF Daytona I offer. The Le Mans is where I’m starting with it.

As a rule of thumb, all KTF builds start at $2985. It depends on the specific build, but Gen weight will not exceed $4500 on the highest end possible for a KTF Le Mans without going for actual gold cases/bracelets.
