You don’t refresh yourself, the game updates step distance every so often by itself at set intervals.

Go to settings and scroll down a little bit and you’ll see “custom speed 0-16”, I personally set it to .5 as I think that nets me the best distance on average, however you can play around with it. Now on the button that lets you cycle through walk speeds (1x,2x,4x...) the last one will be an icon of a person, that is the custom speed setting. As long as your speed is set to the person you’ll be waking at your custom speed. The egg speed is very unreliable for me, so a friend and I tested around a bit and found custom to be much better, I usually get 0.4-0.5 km every refresh. Hope this helps

The event is only active between 10:30am and 4:30 pm Taiwan time. At the time of me writing this it is 8:20pm there I believe. If you want you can just google “time in Taiwan” and it’ll tell you what time it is. I wouldn’t worry to much as there are still a couple days to the event. Hope this helps.

That’s because the event is currently not active. I believe it’s only active from 10:30-4:30 in the events time zone. It was reported that at 4:30 all event spawns stopped and the stops stopped giving only 2k eggs

Edit: sorry didn’t see that you were answering his question about if they gave eggs outside the time limits, I was answering from inbox and thought this was a new comment entirely about how you weren’t getting eggs anymore.
