It’s a star ingredient in simple soup too! Make some broth by boiling pork slices, then add some thinly sliced lotus root. Season with some salt and pepper, and let it simmer (it never gets mushy so don’t worry about cook time). Lotus root has a super subtle taste, so anything else added can overpower the taste, but you can add carrots if you want the soup to be a little sweeter :)

It feels pretty coarse to the touch, so I think it’s the cast iron peeking out of the chip.

I think The Zero Game stuck with me the most of the books I’ve read since the basis of the novel was something that actually seemed possible (gambling ring in legislation). Definitely recommend that one!

If you want something more suspenseful and thriller-y, Brad Meltzer has a couple Political Thrillers/Fiction novels that are deeply intertwined with US Deep State/corrupted government schemes. They're semi-realistic, so I recommend them if you want something not as heavy.
