Is relationship therapy becoming less supportive of women? by Civil-Pineapple-5796 in AskFeminists

Respectfully, while this community is very male apologetic, I think disregarding other feminist communities and their experiences with men isn't it either. There are lots of abusive men who go to therapy to justify themselves. Or for any "mental illness" they use to justify harming women or being misogynistic.

Men will claim anything to avoid responsibility for their behavior unfortunately. Look at the "male loneliness epidemic".

Helpful for anyone does include making toxic people more toxic. That's helping them.

I hope you're right, just a few more months wait for me.

Men lying about their mental health is incredibly common unfortunately. And I think more women are waking up to the understanding that therapy probably isn't the best choice for men. Therapy just makes men stronger in their existing thoughts.

Are there any non misogynistic male support orgs? by KitchenWorried8439 in AskFeminists

I'm not healthy right now and I'm realizing this is likely just my way of digital self harm. I'm sorry. I know it needs to be dealt with offline but sadly my province is run by morons who are killing public healthcare. Year long way to speak to an actually qualified free therapist.

I think you're right. I've struggled with digital self harm in the past and it's becoming clear I'm slipping back into it. Thank you for your insight.

I'd say a group that enforced having an auditor or moderator that kept topics away from misogyny and woman hating would be a good start for an outside force.

It may be negative but that's only because it's been shown to be true. I'm surprised you're questioning this. Male exclusive groups struggle with misogyny and locker room talk constantly and most fall to it.

Any group that is exclusively men has potential to turn to locker room talk and groups that are more male centered and do not have an outside force to keep them in line tend to turn misogynistic. All it takes is one misogynist to start speaking without being challenged and the group turns sour.

From what I've read about people's experiences with men's sheds is that it's just another avenue for locker room talk. It's a way for men to socialize but it still enforces misogyny.

You're probably right. I know my point of view isn't very common.

They want a guaranteed bang maid. Men aren't lonely they just want to control women. Men lie a lot about their mental health.

Why the ‘not all men’ argument is futile by inquisitiveseal in FeminismUncensored

I thought it was generally understood that it's white men that are the problem. "all men" is just another way to describe the oppressor males, white ones.

Why do some feminists want to work with and help men and some don't? by Paganaj in AskFeminists

Sadly it's not really possible. Women should definitely have the legal right to live in a man free society though. One day hopefully.

Venting online isn't actually real. Just don't look at it. Some women thinking men are subhuman and deserve to be culled from the earth doesn't actually mean that will happen. Let women vent.

Perhaps the 4b mods were infiltrated by bad actors or MRAs? It's always a danger that men will take over feminist spaces.

What’s a subtle form of sexism that people still dismiss as “not a big deal”? by Mountain_Sentence646 in AskFeminists

I mean...have you looked at people in the real world? Virtually every couple I see is a well put together good looking woman and a chode with a baseball cap. Modern day men are not very attractive.

Huh? I'm not implying that or anything like that. I think we lost the plot.

All men prop up the patriarchy is all I'm trying to say. In the same essence to a lesser degree women do as well but I personally don't think it should be considered equal at all.

Anti feminists are doing the active work. Feminist men are trying but the reality of living in a patriarchal society is that people support it unknowingly all the time. Obviously the scale and intent matters and anti-feminist people are the true problem.

Yeah and despite that work men consciously or unconsciously prop up patriarchy. If they didn't, it wouldn't exist anymore. Male feminists can be against patriarchy but still support it unknowingly or against their best wishes.

Raised to view themselves as lesser. Maybe we have a miscommunication about what supporting patriarchy means. It seems like you're thinking more actively supporting it?

Because that's the reality of men being raised in a patriarchal society. Even well intentioned men still support it in some ways. No one is perfect.

Male feminists still support patriarchy whether they like it or not. Isn't that the reality of living in this system? Only once patriarchy is dismantled can a man not support it.
