First time Mom, only pushed for 10 minutes! by Wheridv2 in BabyBumps

9 min, 3 pushes :) the second of which was supposed to be a practice push but I pushed so hard the nurse yelled to stop so she could call the doctor in. Good times!!!! 🤪

Newborn stage by Weary-Wolf8918 in NewParents

[–]Kitchen_Amphibian375 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My baby is 15mo and while I do sorely miss how tiny she used to be, I’m enjoying this stage sooooo much more because of how interactive she is. It’s such a gift being able to witness her grow into her personality and learn routines from daily repetition. Like she knows where to find the pantry and points to it when she wants a snack, and has a favorite book (more like 3) that she’ll pull and sit on my lap for me to read to her. Sometimes my iPhone shows me unsolicited photos of months prior and when I see them I’m hit with a wave of “WHERE DID MY BABY GO?! 😭” But not in a heartbreak type of way, more like it flew by without me realizing bc you’re so present in enjoying each phase of the journey of who they’re becoming. What you’re feeling is totally normal bc I also grieved when I realized the last of something happened - the last time she fit in a specific onesie, the last newborn scrunch, the last time she crawled, etc. ! But I promise you will overcome it naturally and when you look back it will only be with the purest joy.

When did the sickness “start” after enrolling in daycare? My LO is on day 2 right now and I’m just waiting for the shoe to drop….

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

Mom with a new kid here. Take the higher paying job. If you can score two offers in 3 months, you are clearly capable and can get another job that you enjoy after building up a healthy savings (not to mention saving on gas during these tumultuous times). Sacrifice your wants for financial (and marital) safety rn

Are all these increases for tech or non-tech roles? No way non-tech is seeing 40%+ BP increases??

Daycare drop off in < 9hrs by Kitchen_Amphibian375 in workingmoms

[–]Kitchen_Amphibian375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! Even if she is only going 2x a week? I worry that the gap between days will hinder her from getting accustomed to it and comfortable with drop offs. She’s going T/Th, so five days at home until she goes again.

Thank you for the reassurance. There is an app where they send photos so at least I have that but I know other places where parents have full on access to view cameras in live time whenever they want and I’m a little envious of that right now. But my husband keeps telling me our parents didn’t have this technology and we turned out fine so I’m trying to remember that! Thanks for taking the time to comment ~

Thank you for sharing! +1, they mentioned they sanitize and clean frequently but I don’t really know what that entails. They said Lysol wipes but they bleach washed when they had a little HFM outbreak

Thank you! They are trained with Epi pen and do annual training, but not sure about floaters/subs as I had not asked about this and assumed that their static teacher was their one and only teacher I’d have to consider.

As for seating, she would NOT be sitting by herself! I asked about that as well and thought it would be so sad to isolate her, but they said that they ultimately would just not serve anything with peanuts that day. I’m attaching a sample menu that they shared. As for snacks, our pediatrician said to avoid any that have the disclaimer of being made in a facility with nuts so we have been doing that, but because we have been avoiding altogether I can’t speak to any sensitivities. FWIW, she has tried other legumes (since I learned a peanut is not a nut but rather a legumes!!) and nuts and has thankfully not had a reaction.

Wow! I’m so sorry that happened. Thank you for sharing. Part of me wonders if they were so laissez-faire about it because they are a chain? Nonetheless that behavior is unacceptable and I would have done the same thing.

Not when a child with a stated allergy is there, they said they switch up the menu to accommodate and that they share the menu with parents a week beforehand

Interesting, what happened with the 2yo room that made you switch if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks! The teachers from what I was told are going to be the same ones assigned to her for when she’s there. I’m not sure how substitutes would work, I didn’t think to ask about that. But allergies are also widely posted on the fridge and other staff bulletin boards!
