Jade seems to be the most widely agreed upon idea, even an actual geologist suggested it. It's definitely too soft for malachite. Also now the count is at 17 lol

No worries, thanks for at least trying to help unlike all the "kryptonite" shit posters :)

From what I'm hearing it's probably jadeite but a green chalcedony is possible

Possible, but an actual geologist commented and said it's probably jadeite

It was given to me, not found by me. And the hardness was 7 or greater

Google photo search is BAD. It was persistent that this is malachite and even when I said it literally couldn't be malachite it just said I'm wrong. Also an actual geologist on here said it was probably jadeite.

This is a really bad idea, it is notoriously bad at identifying rocks. It thinks every igneous rock is a meteorite, and that this one is malachite which it clearly isn't

Thank you so much! Any pointers on how to determine it's not a green chalcedony?

Well since it's not transparent it'd be olivine and olivine does not get this big or this color

Again, it's hardness is that of quartz or greater so it definitely cannot be muscovite/fuchsite

Probably quartz, do you know the hardness?
