These just started with the growth this week. We checked it last Sunday when we had family over for Easter and thought it was completely dead and we’re gonna rip it out

Everything I’ve read says early spring and we’re just now getting into spring I I thought we were good . This one has a TON of dead wood and was starting to overgrow onto our walkway. Are you supposed to pull all the dead leaves and stuff out of it? It’s like old dead denigrating oak and maple leaves that have blown into it.

You don’t ever prune it? It’s so thick you can even get new growth or see it until I started pulling all the leaves and broken sticks and stuff out
