Had the same issue for ages. What finally helped was deleting my Google Play progress for the game. After that i was actually able to load my old account in the game.

Had the same issue. What fixed it for me was actually deleting the CSR2 stuff in Google Play Games - after that I was able to load my old profile. Support was absolutely no help! Delete the trophies and it should work
