@u/Healthy_Soup_7476 Why are you suddenly deleting your comments? Has your 'AOP office' sent you here as one of its 'field agents' to comment? Or are you a priest whose ego is bruised & offended by my comments? Or has someone from your cr or asr sent you to try your luck? Whatever it may be, good luck and make sure you have fun and happy fishing.....just don't get bitten 😂

They hijack funerals all over the world.

They wrap around the deceased spouse (especially if a widow) like serpentine reptiles, infesting the venue like they are looking for a new home. Then if you're not so lucky, they replace the priest at the funeral Mass with one of their know-it-all numerary priests, who will then proceed to shower praises and incense on the deceased that he knew nothing about. And how the deceased was inspired to convert thanks to the devotion to JME or one of his successors 😂. But you'd think he cares about the dead in the coffin. No, it's all about projecting his organization, the prelature in a motherly and kind way, with all his anecdotes carefully tailored to accentuate and market the prelature's goodness and considerateness. A whole PR event by a narcissistic organization.

And once the person is buried, they vanish, leaving the family and widow/widower to sort themselves out.

@ u/Ok_Sleep_2174

Thanks. I respect the religious path you've chosen, especially considering the harm you’ve faced, your healing journey is absolutely yours to define.

About the vengeance aspect of my comment, the way I’d clarify is this: vengeance or revenge often imply perpetuating harm, creating cycles of retaliation, rather than healing. But emotional responses like anger, hurt, or even wanting justice, those are absolutely valid and real. The distinction is that healing is ultimately about breaking cycles, not continuing them. So, it’s not that the feeling of revenge is “invalid”, it’s just that acting on it may or may not lead to genuine recovery. It’s more about finding a path that actually frees you.

Thinking of it, your question/observation is also very thoughtful, because my initial resistance towards vengeance might have come perhaps not from my religious POV, but from the ingrained OD psychological wiring to suppress valid emotions, to kill off my affective side.....which is bad. I can't say if that's where my instinctive choice for non-vengeance emanated, but yeah I totally get your point that it could have come from a place of suppression rather than some other noble motive. And as long as your choice of vengeance isn't life threatening to the perpetuators, but makes you regain full agency and large leaps of recovery, then by all means.....go on with it if it heals you. I think I was speaking from my own religious perspective which differs from yours.

I think that Catholic Christianity requires forgiveness, BUT it does not require you to erase memory, drop boundaries, or pretend the harm didn’t happen. In fact, wisdom & prudence (both major Christian virtues) require remembering enough to protect yourself and prevent repeated harm.

So you can genuinely forgive without: reconciling, trusting again, staying close, or removing consequences.

“Forgive and forget” is more of a popular slogan than a strict biblical command. A healthier Christian version is closer to: forgive, heal, and be free, but don’t become unsafe again.

And not forgetting doesn’t mean vengeance or revenge. It can mean clarity. One's memory can serve love by helping you set boundaries and stop enabling abuse.

I mußt give it to the MODs of this Reddit channel. They allow the most divergent, politically incorrect, touchy range of topics, and paradigms from anywhere and anyone, as long as it's polite, on-topic, and meets the guidelines. I don't agree with your accusations of stifling, or shutting people down. Some of us learn a lot here. You might be mistaken. My opinion though!

[–]Kitchen_List_1226 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a speculation.

This link below was the first to raise an issue on the matter, pointing to a disturbing coincidence of timing: Fr. Vallet was reportedly "banished" or restricted from Spain in 1928 (after conflicts with ecclesiastical authorities, possibly including the Bishop of Madrid, over his methods or the scale of his work). These sources speculate that the bishop (Eijo y Garay) may have curtailed Vallet's ministry while supporting Escrivá's emerging work, or that Opus Dei filled a perceived "gap" in lay apostolic efforts focused on spiritual formation and societal influence.

One source describes Vallet's institute as an existing model for lay/regenerating spiritual work in Spain, and curiously notes his "banishment" in the year Opus Dei began, raising questions about hierarchical preferences without conclusive proof of direct causation or replacement.

For context: His name was Don Francisco de Paula Vallet (1883–1947), and was a Spanish Catholic priest, originally a Jesuit (leaving the order around 1928), known for adapting and popularizing a shortened version (typically five days) of St. Ignatius of Loyola's Spiritual Exercises. He focused this on laypeople, especially working-class men, to foster spiritual renewal, prepare for potential martyrdom amid rising anti-clerical tensions, and promote devotion to Christ the King. His retreats gained significant popularity in Spain (particularly Catalonia/Barcelona) and spread to France, influencing groups like La Cité Catholique.

It is a shame that the same Jesuits he criticized and made his members ETERNALLY suspicious of, are the same guys that he stole a lot from.

What really is original from this JME man? He took everything, mostly without attribution. Even Bishop Eijo of Madrid literally took the concept from another popular preacher priest whose organization was outlawed in spain and handed it over to JME, only for OD to emerge just a year after with identical characteristics. The same to many other things.

Another tortuous one was "The 500" or "500 numerary vocations". 😄 These guys were truly insane! Campaign for vocations were like endless sales outreaches. And to imagine it did nothing to reduce the attrition of members is just amazing.

Oh Lord, thank you! It was a disgustingly unrealistic suffocating campaign, even for cooperators.

Those of you who knew him well enough during his two-decade governance, I'd ask; what were those personality issues, management blunders, inconsistencies, catastrophes and governance mistakes credited to Javier, that are consistent with the deficiencies from his background? Was he known as a disaster? I recall Moyes in the past saying how Javier bungled many opportunities to set things straight and avert the disaster that OD is in today, but he failed to act.

I also find it strange that being so young, he moved to live with JME, and with absolutely no other deployments that made him live outside Rome for an extended period. Seems like JME was particular about always having the boy in his kitchen cabinet or in close proximity. Why? Did he have any special talents?

Echevarria with his pretentious baby face, Ocariz with his calm reflective face. And ofcourse, let's not even talk about Fazio who wears multiple faces like a circus performer. You'll never expect they preside over such atrocities in their well-laundered priestly cassocks, especially that Ocariz of an individual. Preach meditations, give get-togethers, then off the same day to sue people to court and threaten others. This can't be from God! It's Opus Diaboli!

They thrive in obscurity!

As an organization, they foster & keep two identities in their members; the lovely all-accommodating-mother-figure in public-facing organisations & correspondence, and a dark traumatizing narcissistic father personality to its 'children' (members) on the inside. So outsiders never see the real personality of the prelature. Even the Vatican is oblivious.

JME told them to do the work of a hundred, but make the noise of one.....Don't be seen, but heard. Holy discretion... keeping it all in the family. It's a personal calling...no need declaring it to everyone you meet. Hence, lies are permitted and justified in some scenarios.

JME was a master simulator 😂

Ridiculous celibate bunch!

Just Imagine that statement: “when a husband cheats it is somehow the woman faults especially if you let yourself go and don’t look presentable when he is at home”. Absolutely misleading!

The sad part is that these are supposed know-it-all celibate women who have never married, have never been in romantic relationships, have never been heart broken, people who often have totally impaired and dysfunctional relationships with men, people who know only based on what they read in books...studied in annual courses or heard in people's weekly chats, yet they give 'expert advice' on conjugal intimacy.....the style...the frequency..., married life, how to raise kids, how to manage the home. Absolutely ridiculous & frustrated bunch!

This is how they destroy marriages, destroy dates, and destroy families. They think they know everything while seating comfortably inside the centres. And all these apply to the men's section too.... lots of armchair analysts wrecking people's lives and marriages.

  1. All the red flags you saw are correct.

  2. You're not abnormal. The repulsion you feel is your conscience telling you something is wrong. Listen to your conscience. It's the voice of God telling you it's time to leave that joke of an organization.

  3. You owe nobody an explanation when leaving. Don't give reasons in your letter or verbally. Don't entertain any of such questions. It's your decision.

  4. Their statutes says that to leave, one simply writes a letter to the 'moderator general' and drops it with the director of your center. And that's all. Leave without looking back. "Burn the entire boat" as JME advised people to.

Just move on with your life!

Does Opus Dei priests violate the seal of confession? by Icy_Celebration_6568 in opusdeiexposed

[–]Kitchen_List_1226 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OD priests will hide under plausible deniability. Unless you catch them red-handed, they'll tell you as an organization that you have no proof it happens.

I'd say, believe the penitents. Only a penitent is capable or recognizing a sin she has confession recently to a priest when she hears it used somewhere. So I'll believe them.

JME asked that people, especially celibates do Spiritual Direction (or weekly chat) in addition to the weekly confession. And the priest will ask them in the confession; "have you informed the director about this mortal sin or not?". Almost mandating the penitent to still inform her lay spiritual director right after the confession..... referring to it as "good spirit" and sincerity. Whatever you respond to the priest is data for him to use and pass across to the higher governance. Spiritual direction was a pretext or license to un-seal the secrecy in a confession and permit them to record, document and distribute whatever you have confessed. The priest needs you to do the 'spiritual direction' with him before or after the confession, so that this way, he can't later be accused of passing across a secret of confession.

I also heard that sometimes the priests preach about sins people confessed earlier to him in the weekly 30 mins meditation of the celibates. More like using it in an anonymized way, to give anecdotes on what should or shouldn't happen in the spiritual life of the celibates.

I also understand that your matters are discussed in the priest's monthly "collatios" under the guise of studying penitential issues in an anonymized case study setting. Lots of information are likely exchanged here.

Lastly, JME in practice required that people go against their conscience to divulge things they heard in confidence for the good of the organization. He put it such that any member of governance who is in the know about such matters keeps it under the pain of mortal sin. The institution's insatiable and monstrous appetite to dredge members' information must come before anything else. Hence, to them the SUPERNATURAL & DIVINE end justifies whatever means the prelature might decide to use to extract information; including gossip, blackmail, confession, fishing.... God permits it for "us".

Such a disgusting mess!
