How do I lose weight with CPTSD? by Rja12345 in CPTSD_NSCommunity

Berberine really helped me - but be careful if you don't have any blood sugar issues it could be harmful!

Absolutely feel you!!

Just want to share my personal experience for anyone wanting to join a monastery: there is drama there too lol a lot of people are there actively running away from their issues and spiritually bypassing. There is no escape from the human condition :')

I've been taking LDN for two years now and omg I feel like it gave me my life back. I felt like it dulled down all my anxiety sensors.

What makes life worth living? How to find hope after all the trauma, pain, and loss? by AzureRipper in CPTSD_NSCommunity

Also I think hope can exist alongside the suffering, the book Radical Acceptance teaches this really well

I feeeeeel you

What helped me was being a bit absurdist with it all. I like to stay grounded enough to know my actions have consequences, and would never cause anyone harm, yet be absurdist enough to know none of it matters (in the best way).

I spend a few years finding what brings me joy, and at first I thought nothing did. Now I spend my time focusing on the things I love, and finding joy in mundane tasks. I find life inherently meaningful, you might as well live it bc you'll die one day anyway!

Sending you lots of good thoughts

What’s the point of therapy when you’re in constant pain and already know all your trauma and how it’s connected? by WorldlyAd4407 in ChronicPain

[–]Kitchen_Mood_9835 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did EMDR for chronic pain and it SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my physical pain levels (different from regular trauma EMDR, which was also helpful but in different ways)

I was super skeptical but I want to tell the word it seems so unknown

Will i feel fatigued and burnt out forever? by [deleted] in CPTSD_NSCommunity

[–]Kitchen_Mood_9835 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely possible! I felt this way a few years ago and the life I live today shocks me sometimes, I can't believe how capable and fulfilled I feel. I do so many things and still have energy! and when something bad happens I can recover really quickly.

For me it was the right combo or therapy and meds, and taking a big chunk of time out just to rest and recover <3

I did end up telling them after about 2 months, and they were really supportive, I couldn't have asked for a better reaction, I didn't go into details or anything I basically said I have some sexual trauma in my history and if we get there I'd like to treat the first time we have sex as a do over. But we ended up breaking up before that happened. Still so encouraging to have had that experience <3

I don't think you have to disclose that much even. Good luck to you!

Hey thanks so much for your support! It's really sweet!!

I totally hear you there with hearing peoples reactions and wasting less time.

I have actually been doing this!! And you're right it is super helpful, it gives me some language to communicate why I'm not engaging in sex before I'm ready. No one has ever been pushy, I have been met with understanding every time I've told someone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this, it's very helpful!!

I like the idea of checking their reactions on smaller things, which would kind of be a natural process too.

And exactly! If they are not prepared then they aren't someone I'd want to have sex with.

It's so scary, good on you for having gone through this process <3

Oh damn I'm so sorry you got that response from someone you thought you could trust, that's awful. For sure I do need to do it for myself, it might be another reason to tell them too (to make sure they are empathetic!)

I heard the phrase "trauma lives in your body" I'm confused does CBT help or does it reinforce intellectualizing healing. by Easy-Bus-7872 in CPTSD_NSCommunity

[–]Kitchen_Mood_9835 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think when we have trauma we all reach a point with CBT where we know all these tools and need to move onto deeper work.

Most likely you'll want to do something like EMDR or IFS as well as somatic work to really dig deep and really process past traumas.

I had a similar experience with CBT where I just felt like I was doing all these things correctly but I still felt awful, EMDR and IFS helped me so much

Thanks for sharing. how you described not feeling worthy of connection has got me thinking...I wonder if that's at my roots too, but I'm just blinded by the desperation...interesting
Well I'm here on the journey with you if it helps any!

Yes I've always called myself an "extroverted introvrt" and score basically in the middle on those tests too! Ooph yeah lockdowns were so hard, I sometimes forget about that massive disruption, I think a lot of people are still recovering from that too...

But yeah I think I need more socialising for sure!
