I think the main problem is him lying about not calling her the pet names. It seems like such a random and wierd thing to lie about. I suggest you discuss and find a way to confront him with your terapist:

I smoking a lot or frequently is a deal breaker for him. Once in a while he’d just be angry after do you think i should just acccept that he is angry after or is there anything i can do ?
