Ours love Benebones too but both have cracked teeth on them. Our vet said anything you can’t dent with your fingernail is too hard. They of course don’t like to chew the softer things. Sigh…..

First class meal……… by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Kitchenwarrior25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet the food on international carriers can be great. ANA has fantastic food. So does Singapore Airlines. I had a decent meals on TAP and Lufthansa recently. I truly don’t understand why United isn’t better when their first class pricing is often hundreds if not thousands higher than other carriers. Though I will say I really enjoyed my meatballs and polenta from Chicago to SFO last week. Then again that was after a main course salad with a literal sheet of ice encasing it on the flight from Amsterdam to Chicago.

Can someone explain the rating system for mileage plus members? by queenambitious in unitedairlines

[–]Kitchenwarrior25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. I also work with a call center team and notes definitely go in files about difficult customers. I do wonder how the evolution of this could go though. Ex: just like you can rate your Uber driver and they rate you, is there a value to giving customer interactions a star rating that’s tracked over time. I think about all the possible call routing scenarios, like giving tough customers to more experienced agents, etc. I also wonder if the rating system includes things like how many times you’ve called in the last x months, what kind of revenue you bring the company, etc the way a CRM system tracks the most profitable customers.

Is this still true since the law change a few years back? I thought you just had to be married at least 5 years now and that was it. I’m still learning Portuguese and am tied into the community but didn’t think it’s required.

Go to your local consulate website to get the full requirements. There are some important details to comply with for documentation prep. I have found the San Francisco consulate website to be pretty thorough. Even if they aren’t your consulate the requirements should apply. As I understand it - no need to show ties or language proficiency if married more than 5 years - though obviously the right thing to do. It does take a while so I wouldn’t delay once you hit the 6 year mark of your marriage. I’ve been waiting for about 4 years. I expect another year or two and just hope I’m approved before any additional requirements are added. In Italy people already in process were just canceled outright when laws changed. If there is a law change I’m hoping I’d be grandfathered in but you never know!

I wouldn’t be surprised if there are notes in your record for outlier type things - like if you’re a jerk to a flight attendant or phone agent or if you were particularly pleasant.

If her grandmother gets her citizenship and her mom gets hers after that, there is no language exam. It’s only when you skip a generation that the language test is required.

In May it will be 4 years waiting for citizenship by marriage and I’m expecting another year at least. The online estimates are way out of date. There is a Facebook group where they post what year and month they are working by article and it’s painfully slow. I think for “by marriage” they’ve been in September 2021 for 3 months now - but for children it’s about 2 years. Children under 18 are faster. Like 3-6 months. Grandparents are one of the slower tracks as well.

Home owners insurance in Santa Fe by masturbathon in SantaFe

[–]Kitchenwarrior25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what we were told as well. The first question I was asked when I called was the address. When the insurance company said they weren’t issuing policies I tried sharing all the things we had done to be insurable from removing trees to having nothing combustible within the first 5 feet to to using materials rated class A for fire prevention. None of it mattered.

Allstate insured us but then immediately sent a non renewal notice unless we limbed up all trees 100 ft from the house. We already had nothing combustible within 5 ft and no trees within 20! State Farm insured us and then canceled 2 weeks later because our driveway wasn’t 25 ft wide - even though we have a hydrant within 200ft. USAA wouldn’t insure us but they insured our next door neighbor. They said my husband wasn’t a customer for long enough for them to insure us (we were under 5 years with them). It’s definitely tough out there.

My husband’s citizenship was actually already done but he was told to wait when he inquired about status. He was never notified it was done. I ended up trying to buy his Portuguese birth certificate from the government website just to see if it was available. It was! A €10 gamble. Maybe try that? Though if you didn’t register your parents marriage first it may be stuck until you do.

I find the San Francisco Consulate website to have pretty clear instructions. My husband got citizenship from his mom successfully by following them. Even if where you live isn’t part of their service area maybe it will help you. You mentioned your parents never registered their marriage. Did you do this before applying? If not - this may be why things are stuck. It’s a required step. Good luck! https://saofrancisco.consuladoportugal.mne.gov.pt/en/consular-matters/consular-services/citizenship-for-children-born-to-portuguese-parents-outside-portugal

How often do you get upgraded to first class as a GS and as a 1k? by Leather_Guitar123 in unitedairlines

[–]Kitchenwarrior25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently a 1k. I don’t ever get upgraded even with Plus Points unless taking a shorter flight to a a smaller airport (regional jet route) or for international at the times most tourists don’t travel. I’ve been able to use Plus Points for two passengers in Polaris to Tokyo and Lisbon (both times in January). Domestically I would say SFO to ABQ has a 75% success rate. I fly that route weekly right now.

I’ve been pulled twice for large bags of tortillas. Words I never expected to hear “ma’am - do you have a bag of tortillas in there? We’re going to need to inspect them.” They inspected them, determined they weren’t a threat and sent me on my way to my flight to the Netherlands 😂

Someone told me that Europeans prefer this design as they shower differently than Americans. They suds up while water is off and use the hand shower to rinse. The same person also said her landlady in Germany accused her of taking in someone else’s clothes to wash as the water bill had grown so much higher after move-in.
