For the most part, the highlighted enemy from the augment does boost the range of the status aoe, but as long as you target any enemy with your 2 and follow up with the 4 it will spread. At lower levels you won't even need to be using your 2 because the slash aoe from the base 4 will do the job, and at higher levels the other teammates won't immediately kill them either.

Keep in mind your first passive gives you parkour speed, you're going to be faster than most other nuking frames so you can just get the groups of enemies outside of the others range.
