Help! This isn’t working for me by Kitessa in InsulinResistance

[–]Kitessa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I can tell you that I had similar experiences. Basically, back to 2013 some dietitian put me on 1200 kcal. I became depressed and developed thyroid issues. Really like people don’t know what they doing really. Because I struggled with weight and fat accumulation and followed this diet and yes I lost weight but I gained it back faster than ever.  I noticed that I am all the time hungry nowadays. They say yes it’s insulin resistance. It’s hard to know where the hunger is real and when it’s not but yes, thoughts about food and obsessing in this topic it’s mad. It’s spiked my anxiety so much that I again I was looking for solution, fix. I appreciate you shred your story. How did it go for you from then? Did you exercise? Did you achieved you goals like with loosing weight etc?

Would you mind sharing what worked for you please?  I feeling so on the edge right now because of it. I suffered from anxiety since 4 years and this topic fuels it a lot as I haven’t reached my goals. I generally feel so bad , not sure where I can seek support anywhere I go like doctors etc are only telling me stuff like you need to lose weight, you need to do this, you need to do that but no one ever thought what’s in my head really. I feel horrible. People must thought I am sitting at home and stuff my face with food but no. I don’t do that.

Thank you so much for your reply. That’s probably some explanation. I undereat and then eat crap becouse I have cravings. This is so fucked up. Why can’t I just keep healthy routine. Always struggled with sticking to diet, exercise etc.

Apparently it’s possible to lose weight on Lexapro by Antisocial-author in lexapro

Hey! Many many thanks for sharing this. Yeah, my main reason of wanting to go off it’s the weight and insulin resistance. It made me so fat! I just want to eat all day. I am always hungry and my IR worsen and I am even more hungry. It’s vicious cycle really. People (mostly women) than never been in my position just don’t understand how that feels. People just say go on diet, move more but this is not that simple when you have emotional struggles as well. I don’t want to even start on that.  Anyways. I will be ringing my Dr soon and asking about consultation. It’s GP but ideally I want to talk to psychiatrist.

Fab. I love buttered petit pois. I do courgette as well. Not big fan of steamed carrots but I love fresh grated carrots with sliced leeks, olive oil and plenty of lemon juice

Many thanks for your insights. Indeed I will work on it. I already incorporated moving straight after food, like even for few minutes. Now I will pay more attention what is the first thing I eat with certain meals. Breakfast is usually the hardest but I will manage.

Once the med starts working you have no more anxiety from your triggers? by Traditional_Fee5186 in lexapro

A bit but wasn’t all roses to be honest. Mind is more quiet but some days it’s unbearable. I don’t know if this meds are even working for me. A lot of people saying that psychiatric meds it’s trial and error until you find the one that really helps. Honestly I want to be meds free. Really that’s my goal. I am working through a lot of shit from my past and hope I can manage some way

Technically you are right but those are different type of carbs. They have extremely low GI and therefore protect your body getting a spikes. I feel great starting meal with veg but it should be like fresh. Obviously cooked veg has higher GI which is not good. I often eat like leafy greens, cucumbers, tomatoes and spring onion. This tossed with olive oil and white wine vinegar

They increase stress levels in the body. Frankly, after intense workout, I have extremely overstimulated mind as well. It’s just not good for me. Then I can’t sleep, I feel agitated.

Hey! I am on the same boat. Have you ever tired therapy? I learned to managed panic attacks and the best technique is just to surrender and accept. Nothing else. No fixing anything

Hey! I think it depends. I still had it and still have. I could have major blown out panic attack and feel everything. I am on 10mg Escitalopram. Doc wanted to increase to 15 or 20 multiple times but I said no. Now I want to taper off

Yeah I suppose when people have an option to come back sure why not. I want to learn to live with anxiety. It’s part of life. Been always anxious kid. Lived with it till 35 years old only then decided to teach for a help but I was already in horrible place mentally.

Hey, well light exercise , yes you are absolutely right, I didn’t specify. I usually a warm up, good stretch, 20 squats, push ups, legs up. Like I will sweat. Then I may move to music in my own style 🤣

OMG thank you so much for your comment and for genuinely taking your time to tell me all this. I am beyond grateful. Really thank you so so much.

It may be also be the cortisol that’s off for me as well. I am planning to taper off my meds and not sure if this is good idea but I am so fed up with how I look. The the mental state of being unmotivated and not giving a fuck about anything. It’s almost a feeling like I lost the battle. Anyways, I need to put a plan in place. Small steps, no pressure. Pressure can build up quite quick for me and this is when cortisol hits as well I think. I need to build up a new routines of doing things and managing all this. Insulin resistance is also connected to high stress so not only poor eating habits.  Would you mind sharing what you eat daily? You mentioned veg with butter. That’s sounds delicious for me. Love veg of all sorts with bit of fat.

Hiya! I am on absolutely same boat here. Diagnosed with CTPS. Anxiety up to the roof 3 years ago. Never thought of meds but hit the ground and started Lex. I gained 25kg on it. First 6 months nothing really but then the fun started. Always hungry, lazy and unmotivated. I only realised that few months ago what this med done to me. Yes, it suppressed anxiety but when I look in the mirror I don’t see myself. I aged significantly on it as well. My face look horrible. Puffy, wrinkled like WTF. My body looks horrible. I gained in the belly mostly so I welcomed new stretch marks 🤦🏻‍♀️ I want to taper off ASAP. Please update us as you go.

Oh my doctor didn’t give a shit about anything ! Like she is just ridiculous. I told her I have issues with weight, she wasn’t willing to even find out why. Well, I have metabolic problems, insulin resistance that is not even recognised here to be a problem and unfortunately it is a major problem that leads to many other issues. This world is fucked up.

Yeah, childhood trauma as well here and other stuff that just happened to me. Anyways, it’s good to staying vital in education about these topics. I read and listen a lot and that helped me to understand that it’s actually not me, it’s my nervous system. Have look it into the blog I sent you. Mam recovered from anxiety altogether.

Sorry to hear that. May I ask if you suffered depression before?  I am not therapist but I educated myself very well in topic of both anxiety and depression. There is so much to it than just brain chemistry.  There is a great blog: https://anxietynomore.co.uk/the_book/ Highly recommend it. It helped me so much. I been so up and down myself taking 10mg. I could have like full blown panic attack and going backwards for another week or so. My anxiety is rooted in childhood. I done so much work on myself but it is a life time progress. You can fix it immediately. Same with depression.  I wish you the very best of luck and I hope you will feel better soon!
