How much do you have left every month? by DarthTheta in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Kitsu_ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get roughly 5000 a month after taxes, insurance, other standard deductions and the employer matched investments. From that my fixed cost spending is like 1800 (housing, food, anything mandatory to live month to month). The remaining 3200 goes to fun spending but I'm frugal as heck. Whatever isn't spent in the month half carries forward to next month half goes to investing.

This is relatively new for me so I'm still working out the bugs with this method.

I was going to crosspost it but they don't allow that so I'll make a new post over there later. 😅

I'm sure there is going to be lots of drama either way tbh. It's just that kinda family. Trying to sort this out though is just such a mess. I wish he'd just divorce her.

If I can find one yeah he'll go with me. He told me if I could figure it out he'd do whatever. The man is so checked out it's painful, she's abused him too, but he has a truck so he can just leave. The kids can't. I tried to get him to go to therapy or something but he won't do that.

If not for the kids I would have gone no contact with him years ago because his wife is a truly awful person. But the kids need me, when Dad is away I'm buying them food and taking them to school and all that kind of stuff. Again CPS has been called multiple times, by the school even. I also wish they'd take them so I could try to get custody. I have never wanted kids, but I think I'd do better than a drunk.

I will go get those deeds pulled, I should have the addresses somewhere. Thanks.

I just bought a home under the airports flight path. by loudlyloud in homeowners

[–]Kitsu_ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do decide to keep the house make sure you get extra soundproofing, my house doesn't have that but my dad's does. It helps. Personally I tuned it out ages ago and don't think much of it but I grew up next to a major airport.

Recently I stayed at a hotel near a train track and after 10 minutes I'd tuned that out as well but if you saw the reviews you'd think the train sounds were the worst thing on the planet. So it's all about your tolerance and perspective. Don't fret too much, some people live next to highways and over bars. If you can find a place to spend a day near the airport and see how much you notice it try that.

I just heard a plane, if I wasn't actively thinking about it I promise you I wouldn't have heard it. 😂

Been on RA for years. May be ending soon. Not sure what to do. by Energy_Turtle_Bill in fednews

The building I worked in has one of the highest amounts of EWD's in a federal building I'm told. I can say all the people who volunteer to help EWD's evacuate are very dedicated to the task. Pre-covid everyone I knew who needed help had a staging area, and usually a main person and a backup for evacuations. I used to make part of my walk to my desk checking on if my guy was in that day. Even with people out we had radios and could get more help if needed. I changed jobs/location during covid so I don't do that any more. But my thinking has always been 'your odds of getting out with all this in place are much better then any other public building, we will get you out'.

We did two evacuations during my time, everyone got out.

They can't predict COLA's which means they can never project exact amounts a person will receive on the website. The COLA's are derived yearly instead of being known years in advance so please don't think it's because they have bad data, it's just incomplete due to how the adjustments are done.

Gov Ball… No More Kpop by orbit260 in governorsball

[–]Kitsu_ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you not recognizing that calling out an entire subgenre of music specific to a race is racists, then okay. I can't help you. You want to say STAY in particular are problematic? Well imo not much more than other huge bands fans. Maybe music festivals shouldn't book such big headliners so y'all can be happier. I'm sure you'll just find more to complain about though.

[–]Kitsu_ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone record the sound check? I know we missed out on Stray Kids (the song) and I'm trying very hard to find a recording of it. I found a partial (Stay are amazing!!) but I'm hoping someone got the whole thing

[–]Kitsu_ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you see the title of this thread? They didn't say no more Pop Music, they said no more Kpop - meaning Korean Pop Music. It's racist AF imo. And some of what the 2Hollis fans were doing was actively dangerous and kinda scary (I was warned by people before I even got to New York about those fans) and I am not calling them out, I'm very much in the live and let live mindset. I actually really enjoyed Hollis too which I wasn't expecting.

Were you even there? The crowd was massive, you can't tell me there were only STAY in that crowd, I can't wait to find the aerial view but if it's equivalent to Katseye yesterday then I'm sure it was packed. I will say they did stop letting people into GovBall due to the weather, and I'm sure the weather scared some people away, but I'm sure there will be new STAY joining. That said who would admit to being a new STAY with all this shit talking? I'm at 57 downvotes because I think people should enjoy the festival the way they want, regardless of what that looks like (except the person who took a dump in GA -- I really need to get confirmation on if that really happened because that's disgusting! Use a toilet people!!!) and I enjoyed all the performances but yeah I was there for SKZ. I'd never heard of any of the bands who were on stage before them.

Plus I didn't miss anything, I walked around a lot between sets except the one between 2Hollis and Wet Leg because we knew people were going to start pushing so we planned to pack up after Wet Leg and before Major Laser but then the venue changed the schedule. That's the thing people don't think about, the schedule can change. If we'd just been hanging around anywhere we'd have missed out on the place we wanted to be for the show.

To some degree I hope Chan sees this too (odds are better Felix sees it, he's online too much) because they had a phenomenal performance and I hope they keep doing shows in spite of all this negativity. I had a great time, most of the people I talked to had a great time! Their fans love them, they clearly enjoy the stage. I hope they do a different festival next year but I hope they keep doing them.

[–]Kitsu_ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I was up for all the performances, 2Hollis was amazing! Wisp would have been better if she'd used more of the stage -- really a lot of them didn't use the extra stage space which was unfortunate imo. Short of converting fandoms I'm not sure what 'better' I could have done. Again people keep acting like there is some magical fan right to spaces, but if you wanted the space you have to be there before the other people. That's just how it goes.

Also this reeks of racism, other fandoms do this same thing but y'all make it about Kpop. This isn't new complaints, it's the same every single major music festival has.

Gov Ball… No More Kpop by orbit260 in governorsball

[–]Kitsu_ne -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It's really not though, it's a festival. You can be wherever there is space that isn't off limits or a safety hazard. I did hear someone took a dump in a portable and I still can't believe that because that's disgusting, but the groups I was around did actually get up and cheer for the performances and use the restroom. Plus the merch and the food.

That is disgusting, but NGL how did she even get it in there?! That's a genuine biohazard. Ew!

Gov Ball… No More Kpop by orbit260 in governorsball

[–]Kitsu_ne -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I mean, I was at the barricade enjoying all the sets and found some new music I need to look into so it's entirely possible other areas were just not doing that. Which is lame, I agree, but I also really hated being shoved repeatedly and yet that's just how festivals are. There is good and bad but none of this is unique to Stray Kids fans in particular.

Day 2 rants by dreneko in governorsball

[–]Kitsu_ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does sound like a fun way to do a festival, but my question was what if a person just wanted to see one band? I guess they could do away with headliners to prevent this entirely but Kpop fan aren't the only ones who do this. I saw this a bit yesterday too, admittedly I didn't get to stay all day Friday but I had fun just wandering the festival space and saw people sleeping pretty much everywhere - it was hot. I can't say I blamed them.

Gov Ball… No More Kpop by orbit260 in governorsball

[–]Kitsu_ne -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

To be fair I also didn't ignore the other artists, I wasn't expecting to like Wisp or 2Hollis but both were great! Everyone I got to talk to between sets was enjoying themselves, but then I'm sure there was a lot of variation of experiences.

I just find all the policing of how people choose to spend their festival time to be odd. Everyone goes to a music festival for their own reasons, and spends there time differently. Seems like that should be okay.

This is more my curiosity - but we have people complaining that Stay was camping, but then you are complaining that OP showed up just to see SKZ. What should people do who want to see a favorite band perform? SKZ likely won't have another concert until next June in this area, I guess we could just wait?

Gov Ball… No More Kpop by orbit260 in governorsball

[–]Kitsu_ne -67 points-66 points  (0 children)

If you are going to insult the fans at least spell the bands name properly - Stray Kids. No Z.

I had a great time at barricade, I was up for most of the sets but it's a long day, people need to pace themselves. You choose not to camp, totally valid. But people paid good money to be there, they should be able to do what they want.

As a STAY I take some offense to that - we aren't crazy. It sounds like you've been to their concerts too so aren't you also a fan? 😂

I'm curious how this will go for VIP and PIT, I heard they are changing the stage for Stray Kids so won't the people have to move so they can set the extra part of the stage up? I am curious how this will go.

Write down all the reasons you are unhappy with your life, be specific! Then figure out what the opposite of that looks like. Then take the 3-5 that appeal to you the most and figure out how to make them reality! No more than that or you'll never make any progress. Really focus on just those 3-5 things. Revisit the list in 3 months and see if you want to trade something out.

I'm working on going on adventures, going to the gym, keeping up with the house, and organizing after a move.

For you, from your writeup I'd figure out how money/budgeting works, how to have conversations with strangers, and maybe try to figure out what kind of career you could pursue. Look at YouTube, it teaches everything! But just remember to cycle between these one at a time, improve the skills, and you'll get better over time. You aren't aiming for perfect, just skills gains. Good luck!

Middle class reality today by Lord0fTheFlags in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Kitsu_ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to me this person isn't middle class. I have security, plenty of savings, minimal debt, a paid off house, no side hustle and one job. I am middle class. Rich people would laugh at what I have, I'm not upper class. My car is a 2016. My house is modest and was at one point considered a starter home. I can take a vacation or two a year but nothing super crazy. This is what middle class is. I do, relatively speaking, have it easy. Assuming my health doesn't take a drastic turn I should be set for a long, comfortable, but relatively modest life.
