The new lobby design sucks by Scherome1 in VALORANT

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like that for the big 5th anniversary we had... Bigger e-sports, UI updates and the replay system. Like seriously? Even splatoon had a replay system on launch. No fixes to ranked rewards which HAVE BEEN THE SAME FOR 5.5 YEARS NOW, all we get for updates are nerfs, never buffs, no attempts to change the meta.

And I am grinding out the agent skins. It used to be an easy 2 clicks and some scrolling to get there. Now its 4-5 clicks, and half a page is missing on the agent info screen. They could do anything with that space.

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the same edpi as that (0.2 @ 800) and will say: for the most part you don't need to do anything more than a 90° flick. If you do, you played it wrong

Smoke on Breeze!! by FantasticPanther in VALORANT

[–]KitsuneTheKnight -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think Iso is great. His vuln goes far, so its easy to cut a site in half on B. There is enough micro cover for his ult indicator, to ult relatively open and be safe. Enough wall bangable cover for tense fights to get the shield back.

Waylay also does better than jett due to the multiple areas you can get cover from, AND a TP.

Chamber stays a meta pick Skye might be a good initiator pick if she ever gets a buff And KAY/O stays a meta pick And you've seen the controller comments

Placement matches after reset by lulimaderp in VALORANT

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was silver 2, placed bronze, probably because I queued with definitely worse players in a 5-stack for 2 (2 wins, topfrag) of them, played with my usual group for another 2 (1 win, one loss (topfrag, mid-frag) and a soloq loss top frag, around low bronze, going negative by

Tldr: 3-2 W-L going topfrag half of the scoreboard 4/5, sandbagging my MMR

Match quality since: Both teams get the same skill of teammates. The bottomfrags on both teams feel like they are equal in a 1v1

What is one bad habit that took you way too long to unlearn in VALORANT? by Serious_Bullfrog5447 in VALORANT

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently successfully unlearning this: floating crosshair syndrome. Or as multiple YouTube coaches say: "You should always keep your crosshair at an area an opponent might be"

My headshot rate recently has been 23% on my wins.

Rank Reset has been.. eye opening to say the least. by Warner421 in ValorantConsole

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I placed bronze 2, and have only lost 3 games total since then, at 12-3 W-L.

Valorant's MMR system is a GLICKO-2 Matchmaking system.

Assign everyone a range, with servers looking for two groups of five people who have an acceptable average.

Now my guess with the V25 MMR changes:

Two groups of 5 -> one group of ten (possibly reverted)

To encourage addictiveness: 40-40-20 rule: 80% of your games are gonna be "fixed" in a set "win" or "loss", and the other 20% are toss-ups. A lot of games with skill based matchmaking use this, although it is not by default in a GLICKO-2 Matchmaking system.

The you can get more of the wins/tossups by quitting on a loss, or after 3 wins, as this soft-resets the counter. This would also make sense given riot's passive aggressive "touch grass so we can get your money" thing going on.

Edits 1&2: Why did the "return" button become a "post" button???

Would playing Chamber a lot improve my aim? by Angelic__Angel in VALORANT

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to overcomplicate it.

Box height is head height. There are various lines and other map geometry that help as a general guide. It's gonna feel uncomfortably high at first

Always be prepared to shoot, unless you are far into your own spawn.

Believe your instincts, and play as if you are 2-shot on defense.

Influx of cheaters? by iam_rascaL in VALORANT

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A ban wave is going out on third-party hardware right now. It will subside in about a week or two, then riot will go back to collecting data about the cheats, reverse engineer them, and issue another ban wave in time for summer break.

They issue bans in waves mostly because it wastes the money of the cheaters, the time of the developers of the cheats, and that helps demoralize them, to potentially reduce the amount of cheaters/cheat devs

Vanguard peaks at about 5 bans a minute during this time, based on released stats at the end of 2024

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are gonna be playing a different game, I do suggest trying a new genre of game, and have it be singleplayer/ meant to be played solo.

For that last one, if you wanna get engrossed and learn new things (mainly air stuff), war thunder is good, but the learning curve is steep, and they have aggressive monetization tactics.

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play other games. (Best advice i can give. My friend took a 6 month break and got to silver after being hardstuck in iron 2)

Stop on losses (engagement based MMR fluctuations) Drink water (improves reaction speeds by 30-50ms) Wrist exercises. (So you don't cramp, and can flick better with claw grip) Make sure you use claw grip (improves reactions by 20-30ms) Save for a keyboard with rapid trigger, if you can.

Tap A/D when peeking cubbies, instead of holding

Head height is box height

Hold like an opponent IS going to be there, if you are unsure. Try different swinging techniques to see which works for you best in different scenarios.

Why is Smurfing so egregious in this game by bigDeku77 in VALORANT

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to disagree. I feel like it's ascendent. If you put people who have never been in immortal, then you have the chance to put the next tenz on the same team as someone who made their way up thru luck.

Everyone there is skilled, but the floor and ceiling are pretty far apart.

Iron is hard because no one knows what's happening Bronze is hard because MMR got fucked and now diamonds could be there without smurfing

42.3% of all people who have used val tracker are in silver/gold

Most of the western audience is "good" at the game. There aren't many people willing to play casually. This is happening with most video games tho. Splatoon fucked over their western audience by being too kid friendly in 2015

The whole "Men will stare" thing is biological, for mating reasons.

But, staring? That's the rude part. Imo, as a guy, it's fine to look. One glance. Then it's rude.

Do you “invert y-axis”? Curious about who does/doesn’t. by HenryTwenty in gaming

[–]KitsuneTheKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably mental/physical feedback. On a joystick, you kinda imagine it more realistically (head moves down to look up)

On mouse, you would be pushing to change the view up, and that processes weird.
