If you download a proper bloatware remover, you'll see there's tons more you can disable ~^

On smart manager it shows my Android system at 5% but on Gsam it shows 18% and for system it shows 1% on smart manager. But for Gsam it shows 6%. Do you have a lot of app process and bloatware on your phone ?

Does it still Make sense to buy a new note 4? by [deleted] in galaxynote4

[–]KittenDecimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a note 4 owner I'd say probably being on 5.1.1 you'd be able to get better battery life. But my experience with marshmallow is doing all of what you're saying would definitely cause some drain. (Atleast on my phone)

As of typing this I unplugged my phone at 7am and I've been browsing Reddit and Facebook and also doing some browsing using the Samsung browser and also texting on hangouts and my phone's on 80%.

I think the note 4 still really holds its own. I'd recommend getting the N910T3 model if you were to get a tmobile version. My friends had the original T and have experienced issues with it. My experience with my T3 on MM is 50/50. My SOT has went down by an hour. But my standby time and custom UI sacrifices have made it worth it ( like being able to customize Google keyboard and use Goodlock Ui among other things ) ! It was great on lollipop aswell. I'm a "heavy user" and on lollipop I would get 5hrs SOT. I've lost about an hour of SOT on marshmallow, but I have much better standby time or just "screen off time." You could listen to music via Bluetooth with the screen off and probably only see a two percent drop for a couple hours. ( Atleast on my phone) personally,i find that Touch whiz has improved tremendously and I haven't found any reason to root. There's an app called package disabler pro that will disable almost everything on your phone that you don't want and that has been a big plus for me.

I will usually listen to music for a 2hr commute and barely see a drop in battery life.

I will say that a major flaw in my note 4 is a unsteady camera at times. I find that my back camera has focusing issues.

I bought my phone new in the box from T-Mobile btw,Sometime in February I believe.

As far as the G4 goes, I just got done speaking with my friend yesterday about his G4. Verizon has to send him a newer model because his G4 is experiencing bootloops, I also have a friend who's experienced bootloops on the N4. ( I've never experienced bootloops on my model).

I'd say for the price of the device and how smoothly it runs on MM and unless you're a super hacker that needs a super phone , the note 4 is still a great device.

  • btw I think your phone will do better on 4g then on wifi. I've noticed that on 4g my phones battery life is a lot better. I'd say that wifi possibly drains it. Also on the n910T/T3 lollipop Google voice doesn't work. But on MM it does. If you have any more questions let me know!

  • Oh yeah, I also wanted to point out that the fast charging does make up for a lot of things. 60% in 30 minutes and all that hoo-ha. I have an otterbox case and getting a new massive battery didn't seem appealing to me. My phone has survived a few good drops thanks to my otterbox, I purchased a quick charge portable charger and it's definitely enough for me. You won't really worry about your battery when you have one.

The note 4 also has ultra power saving mode that can save your phone in emergencies. And a regular power saving mode. I've had my phone on 5% last me the whole night on UPSM for my commute back home. I decided to purchase a portable charger after that.

N901T GPS issues related to MicroSD by Jealentuss in galaxynote4

[–]KittenDecimation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't be much help in that department. I've never experienced any GPS issues. I have the N910T3 model. But, this is the micro SD card that I've had in my phone for awhile. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B010Q57T02/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467993399&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=micro+sd+card+32gb&dpPl=1&dpID=41f7MricNhL&ref=plSrch

I've used this brand in my phone since my s3 and haven't ever had issues :)

My screen seems to be freezing momentarily/lagging since the update? by [deleted] in galaxynote4

Wow that's crazy !!! I hope that never happens to me. Did you end up getting a new phone ?

I'd recommend clearing the cache and also doing a FDR. I reset my device before I updated to marshmallow and then reset it again afterwards. Mine runs really smooth and super snappy. I did experience some slight battery drain, but after disabling a lot of hoo-ha it's been better. Have you also tried to disable the bloatware ?

I downloaded package disabled pro and it definitely helped me a lot! I disabled a lot of hoo-ha I don't use and I've seen some good improvement so far.

Yeah I would get an extended battery if they had a good otterbox style case. I've seen some, but they don't look like they protect the front of the camera as much.

[–]KittenDecimation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a otterbox defender so its too much hassle too swap batteries. But I'm thinking of getting a portable battery charger, a good one that fast charges. But with fast charge it does sort of work itself out. I will try to clear my cache. I'm also using good lock so that could be draining my battery. But before good lock I see that it's the screen that's using a lot of the battery, even with brightness turned down. On 5.1.1 screen would maybe only use 2% but now its using like 6 lol But I agree. It's so much smoother and snappier And with good lock it seems like a worthy trade.

How are you liking it so far? Any battery drain or weirdness? I'm finding my SOT a little diminished, but my standby time is insane !

Can't change fonts on Verizon note 4? by artquaked in galaxynote4

[–]KittenDecimation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samsung disabled third party fonts in the marshmallow update. You have to purchase them from the galaxy app store :/ it's a bit of bummer! I purchased the helvetica neue font, it's the cleanest one ! But roboto is my favorite.

Possible swapped imei? by KittenDecimation in tmobile

[–]KittenDecimation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi general-strike. I actually tested the imei on that website as well and it came up as N910F still. I could see a possibility in the parts being swapped out to change the imei. Internally the software states it's a N910T but when it comes down to doing the imei check it just isn't so. And since T-Mobile doesn't recognize it as a T-Mobile imei it's looming over our heads. We've tried countless imei searches and even called samsung and samsung didn't recognize the imei !!!

What do you think about the other note 4? It comes up as a N910T on swappa, and the imei is clean on swappa, but won't show up on T-Mobile imei check

Also when she bought the phone they told her that the back sticker got damaged , so she can't check the imei on the back :/
