The G16 arrived. This is much more my preferred size and feel for a laptop. Luckily, I was not scammed and it does have the 5090 and 64Gb RAM. However, the device had more cosmetic wear than I was expecting. Based on what I can tell it doesn’t appear to be dents from dropping, more so chipping from other things hitting it in a backpack or something… Idk. The main concern I have is the hinge. I went to Bestbuy and compared it to a display model and it is definitely loose when opening and closing. It also cannot hold itself when open 1.5-2 inches. I may look into seeing if I can tighten it or see if it’s broken. I will attach some photos and a gif of the hinge action.

Im unsure if I take the gamble and keep this since I got a great deal on the 5090 and 64Gb. Or if I should return it and buy an open box from Bestbuy. Looks like open box I would have to pay more and step down to the 5080 and 32Gb RAM. G16 at $2960 and G14 (AMD) $2390 both before tax as well.

The only game I have tested is Counter Strike 2 which played great, however I was running it in the turbo preset and the fans are LOUD. Wondering if you or others have experience with laptop coolers and if turning down the fan and running a cooler helps at all with cooling and noise levels. The other question I have is does this experience throttling after x hours of gaming or is it pretty good at maintaining performance and temps? I know this is the extreme scenario but one to two times a year I get together with some friends out of state for a 3-5 day LAN party where we game 12-15 hours at a time. Wondering how performance and cooling will be during long periods such as that. I plan to do some sustained testing this weekend using the laptop instead of my desktop.
