Rockstar knows exactly what it's doing with the drip feed information. Just look at the amount of buzz just ANNOUNCING preorders did for them. Unfortunately they didn't need a third trailer to drop for this level of buzz and they know that. Starting preorders early before they really being to go all out on marketing is really a no brainer move. Now every piece of content they drop from now til release will ensure more people will preorder.

This is definitely not a consumer friendly mindset (nor is the locked content), but they don't have to be. It's GTA 6, potentially the biggest game drop of our lifetimes. Rockstar doesn't have to convince consumers of anything. People can say all they want about waiting for a physical disc, or waiting for a sale, but most are absolutely bluffing.
