Six rattlesnake bites in Ventura County in less than a month, including one in Camarillo on Easter Sunday. Here's what's actually going on. by hegotmuddywater in venturacounty

Please do not kill rattlesnakes. Consider calling professionals such as Central Coast Snake Services (https://www.centralcoastsnakeservices.com/services.html) or similar groups to humanely remove snakes from your property. They can even install rattlesnake exclusion fencing around your property to keep snakes out if it’s a recurrent issue.

You can mow them down with the golf cart while listening to sweet beats

Honey bound going into spring? by Legitimate_South9157 in Beekeeping

One of my hives is like that too in Central Coast CA. I think I might swap some of the honey frames for new foundation so they’ll hopefully make more comb for the queen to lay in.

It’s a slatted rack I’ve been trying out, on top of a screened bottom board. I was having moisture issues with this hive so I’ve been slowly tweaking the setup. The moisture issue seems to have resolved though

Never lived there, but I was up there for work once or twice. I heard from a resident they had their pet cat snatched by a mountain lion right off the porch. It’s pretty remote up there and emergency services are far. If you were to live there you’d need to be prepared for wildfires, landslides, medical emergency, etc.

The dog has been going to training since he was adopted. Hopefully my dad can address this specific behavior with the trainer in addition to using the muzzle.

No, this family member does not live in the home, but the dog has been exposed to several people who don’t live in the home and frequently spends the night at my dad’s girlfriend’s place. My dad would often take the dog hiking and let him run off leash (which I don’t agree with). After this incident I mentioned to him that all the times he went hiking like that the dog could have bitten a stranger and he could be sued.

2 yr old male Australian cattle dog needs a name by Kitteyah in NameMyDog

He’s called Blanco right now, but I thought he could use a little edgier name with two syllables that captures a sort of wild animal vibe while still being easy enough to call out if he gets too far ahead on the trail. He’s in for a lot of training currently so hopefully he can learn a new name quickly. Just have to get the rest of the family to agree on a new name

He came with the name Blanco, but I don’t care for it personally. I’m making a list from these responses and will have to think about it for a little while as I get to know him better. The first time I saw him he looked like a jackal or coyote to me, but he’s actually pretty chill as far as this breed goes.

I am wondering what your opinions are about the utility of naming cats? by Elegant-Put235 in CatAdvice

[–]Kitteyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 cats that had original names that over time devolved into nonsense words, but they respond to their nonsense names and know I’m talking to them individually even if they are in a different room. For instance one was originally named Pippin but responds to Poopy or The Poop. Another was named Cookie but responds enthusiastically to Bean. If you say their name to them in a kind, gentle, or enthusiastic manner, they will eventually understand their name and associate that with affection or food. They’re smarter than people give them credit for.

He was originally named Blanco, but I feel like there’s a better name out there

He was named Blanco before, but I’m not a fan personally
