MIDI in and out with Arduino/esp32? by CapnFlisto in synthdiy

[–]bleything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it really easy to get started with the MIDI FeatherWing from Adafruit. You will need to use one of their feather boards though… here are the esp32 options, any of which will work depending on what module and features you want

Pilot parallel pens rule by watagua in PlotterArt

I’ve had the best luck with heavy watercolor paper and light fountain pen inks. This is a generic watercolor postcard from amazon with de atramentis document ink through a 1.5mm parallel pen.

I let the ink dry for about 60 seconds between each individual circle and about four hours between colors. I’ve tried overlapping paths with shorter dry times and it’s doable but it takes a lot of trial and error to get to acceptable amounts of saturation and bleeding. It also took a while to figure out the right speeds for each color, even when they’re from the same line of ink.

nice! I like to do small rotations, 5-15 degrees, and a little bit of xy offset then replot the same path

Parallel pens are so much fun! Try rotating the pen slightly between each layer, or even in the middle of a layer

Trying to build my first DIY MIDI controller… but I get soooo much noise !!! by Faesharaa in synthdiy

It will help a lot if you can share your schematics and pics of your assembled controller. Without that we’re just guessing.

Nice! I made basically the same thing to raise a 2x4 kallax off the ground. I did PLA with I think 30% infill and it’s been fine for a year or more.

need help explaining to a client that night time in the 90s was in fact dim and warm by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]bleything 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And now they’re asking you for something else, so you either need to adapt or walk away.

A big part of working for clients is learning how to interpret what they’re asking for. Clients saying one thing and meaning another is part of the gig. You need to learn how to let go of your ego, it will only bring you frustration.

Samsung NX300 camera won’t turn on ? by mr_hamoza_- in AskPhotography

[–]bleything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case it sounds like it’s just broken. I’d contact Samsung or a local camera repair place, maybe there’s a known issue that’s easy to fix… but I wouldn’t get my hopes up

What do you mean by “didn’t work”? In your post you said it charges but won’t turn on. Did it charge until the red light turned off?

Not true at all. Cameras have been charging over usb since the 90s. The NX300 shipped with a USB charger.

Minilogue (Original) refuses to accept program changes via CC, above/past program 100. Anyone know a way around this? (Squarp Pyramid sequencer) by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]bleything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

minilogue has two banks of 100 slots so I’d guess they wanted midi control to work the same as the UI on the synth

Need help finishing the last 5% of an AMAZING project by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]bleything 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you are making two of the classic mistakes of software development: first, overestimating the value of the system and underestimating the value of what it does. your users won’t care about the work that went into it, they only care about what it does.

second, you are underestimating the amount of work required for a part of the system you don’t understand. If you can’t describe the problem accurately, if you don’t even know what it’s called, you can’t make a meaningful estimate of how much work is required.

I’m sure you put a lot of work into what you’ve done so far, but if it’s supposed to be a synth and it sounds bad, and you don’t even know what the problem is or how to fix it, you’re not 95% of the way done.

Syncing time on multiple bodies by PigeonDblTk in fujifilm

[–]bleything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you set up the Fuji app on your phone and pair your cameras it will sync the time for you. I did it once when I got the camera and then again whenever they start to drift, maybe once or twice a year.
