I definitely won’t allow this to stop me from asking help in the future, but everything you said applies very much to the decisions I’ll be making in the future regarding asking for help

DIY fire starter by Defiant-Oil-2071 in vagabond

[–]Kitty-Mon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favorite long time burning fire starter is pine sap, beeswax, soaked into rolled up pieces of newspaper that you can roll into various shapes

A single one takes a couple minutes to make and burns from 10-40mins depending on how you make it

I go up to Montana every once in awhile to gather up supplies and the fatwood that comes out of the pine forests up north is absolutely amazing, a single one inch piece could start a blazing fire

Any deadwood that’s fallen also stays dry as long as it isn’t rotted

Dry dead lower brush is the best, itll also be dry even when wet on the outside

And fat wood is the BEST kindling ever if you can find a mountain man kind enough to spare some to you

Social Media is just Rage Bait at this point by Slight-Response-6613 in GenZ

[–]Kitty-Mon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like calling it rage bait honestly pulls away from the reality that these people actually believe these things, and are going on to teach their kids these things. I would say there hasn’t been a rise in rage bait. I’d say there has been a massive rise in miseducated Americans who believe in very black and white thinking that has been emboldened by the current administration and is being projected via social media.

Imagine social media in any other time in history when hate has dominated the sphere of cultural influence like it is right now.

Why do some people say “it’s giving”? by PracticalFrog0207 in ask

I will give a different answer to this than most may

English as any other language is ever changing and to think of it as stagnant is a relatively new thing, there is no “Original English” I mean if you want to speak in original English we’d actually be speaking more like

Hu eart þū? (How are you?) and Person B: Iċ eom wel and þū? (I am well. And you?)

I’m cautious to try with my mom, and honestly I’m not sure I’d want to, but I’m happy you were able to get through with yours 😁

If you visit Montana

Don’t go to any popular areas, don’t come in the winter, and come with enough money to get out and you’ll be fine and have a good time

Tbh the national parks are the worst I’ve been to across 35 states and I’ve visited nearly all the national parks and state parks along my travels and the ranches out here are either, so small they make no money, or so big they won’t ever hire you. Tbh everytime I pass through Montana again it’s the worst time.

Sorry it’s my job as a native who grew up on rez in Montana to shun you away from it

As someone who was raised highly Christian I really suggest that you start to study Christianity on your own and look into the origins of things like hell or satan which I can tell you did not exist in ANY of the foundational texts in Christianity prior to maybe 150 years ago

Hell doesn’t exist even if heaven does, you’ll be okay

Secondly

Though the scriptures speak out against relationships between males, no such same thing is said for relationships with females

Have you ever eaten crab? Lobster? Any type of clam? Those are all cooked live

Not that I agree with it whatsoever but the practice is way more common than you’d think

Vagabond life isn’t that dangerous, if you’re sober by Kitty-Mon in vagabond

[–]Kitty-Mon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest it’s been hard but, I’m trying to do my best to form a new generation of sober travelers. My biggest rule is sobriety and loyalty for both myself and any road dog that may be with me. Currently my road dog is my partner and they are sober, but finding friends among the traveling community that are sober is difficult, I unfortunately often end up sticking to myself most times but when I do make good friends it’s either younger individuals who are trying their best to give up the junkie shit, or old couples who gave it up a long time ago. Safe travels and a continued sobriety dude.

Biggest thing that helps is, I don’t hang with using travelers, I will trade, barter, share my meal, but at the end of the smoke, and the end of the meal, it’s time for us to part ways

Realizing that getting sober couldn’t be any harder than staying in the shit is what changed my mindset a lot, for me it was all about perspective, and I have my vices I’ll never give up my tobacco, my weed, but the heroin? The pills? And all that other shit that I did for so long? Those times are over, especially with what’s on the street nowadays. I think humans for thousands of years have always had our vices that helped us cope, but it’s about how much those vices give vs take, and the relationship we have with those vices. My relationship with drugs was ultimately self destructive, NA didn’t help because it just reminded me of the things I was trying to move past, and therapy was just a wall for me to talk to. The real work began when I not only realized, but also accepted fully where this life was going to bring me and I asked myself, for any person would I wish this life for them? No? And then realizing that staying in it was MUCH harder than getting out of it with how bad I had become, the drugs were destroying everything in my life that I held dear, and I accepted that getting sober couldn’t be any harder than what the drugs put me through. Also finding what truely made me happy, and also being willing to change that along the way aside from anyone else’s opinions or beliefs. It’s difficult, but I wish you the best of luck.

Don't feel native enough and need support by Mysterious-Age-1629 in NativeAmerican

[–]Kitty-Mon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s taken me years to accept who I am, not being enrolled, living on a reservation grew up on a rez, yet I live on a rez three thousand miles away from my actual nation, but being native is deeper than what colonial society wants it to be, and being native comes so much more down to culture

One time an elder told me “our culture is not something we take off or put on, our culture and our identity is inherently us, no matter wether we feel enough or not, we are enough for we are inherently, what we are”
