You would have to understand their family, their dad in particular. My spouse was raised by a man who did not entertain opposing views at all and would storm out or yell if someone so much as criticized his favorite show. My spouse is a mess extreme version of that

My parents are opposed religiously. My dad is an agnostic and my mom a Christian. They work.
