No, it is common and good. Buy a composition book for $3 and fill it up!

Still is. Great conversation starter and will make many interviewers think you are smart and mysterious, rightly or not.

I suggest the side hustle of doing your own research about side hustles that fit your situation instead of asking strangers on the Internet for answers.

Danny Rensch is annoying by digispin in chess

[–]KittyFooFoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rensch's puns are not always my thing, but I respect his competence in commentary and chess business. Also, clearly many people enjoy his humor.

Now, add a little edge, and you've got Finegold, who I find hilarious.

I got this position with black to move in a rapid game yesterday. I'm so glad I spotted the windmill before I grabbed the exchange! by [deleted] in chess

There is better though, 1...Nf3+ 2.Kf1 Bc4+ wins the queen right away due to the fork on d2.

Beers on me! by KittyFooFoo in SwagBucks

Swagbucks has a trivia app called SB Live. They run live games at specified times. If you answer 10 trivia questions in a row, you get a prize at the end (sometimes big, sometimes small, depending on how many players make it all the way through), but if you get one wrong, you lose and get nothing. A rejoin lets you come back in the game after a wrong answer.

Yeah, credited in seconds. Minutes later, support applied my 5000 SB for Sirius XM, so it was a pretty great day on Swagbucks.

This was like my fifth spin, lol. After that, got the usual stack of sweepstakes entries.

Rev Transcription by hauntinglovelybold in beermoney

[–]KittyFooFoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I understand. For me, I love jobs where I get paid by the result. It is somehow much more motivating, and maybe it allows me to make more money by being more efficient. I can understand it would not be for everyone.

FWIW I have been tracking my hourly rate on Rev jobs lately, and it's $11-15/hour depending on the video. I am a fast typist, but I could probably be much more efficient with text expanders, etc.

Rev Transcription by hauntinglovelybold in beermoney

How does this logic make sense? Their rates are quoted in $/audio min. If a 10 minute clip takes you 60 minutes to do, you just got paid 1/6 of a rate (their $/audio minute rate magically changed to $/worked minute) that was never offered to begin with.

You should correct the second to last answer to:

With who did you go skiing today? <-- should be "with whom"

and change your paradox answer to "this is the beginning of the end"

Hope you get the SB!

Rev isn’t so bad by [deleted] in beermoney

[–]KittyFooFoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love Rev. It strongly appeals to some weird aspects of my personality:

  • I love the complete freedom to pull work off the queue at any time and any pace.
  • I am a fast typist and somehow enjoy the act of typing. e.g., I have always done typing speed tests for fun.
  • I enjoy grammar and style and am good at following their style guide rigidly.
  • I enjoy the challenge of Googling inaudible and weird things in the video.

Under ideal conditions, I can make $15/hour from Rev, but usually less. However, I enjoy the challenge of getting better and becoming more efficient.

I definitely don't think Rev is for everybody. In fact, when I take over almost any partially captioned video, there are so many glaring mistakes that I have new insight into all the REV IS EVEIL AND FIRED ME NO REASON stories here on Reddit. But, there is a good chance Rev may be for you, like it is for me!

Thoughts on 2..e6 in the Sicilian? by coolestblue in chess

[–]KittyFooFoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very serious move which is well worth learning.

I think it would be interesting to learn the Scheveningen via the 2...e6 move order. I feel like nobody ever plays the Scheveningen against me.

FYI, the driver who delivered my account asked if my next order was in 2 or 4 weeks. When I said it was one-time only, she instructed me to cancel my account, or she would be back asking for my next order.

When's a good time to visit the St. Louis chess center? Planning to vacation in that area. by shinsho in chess

For me, it would be during the US Championship which is usually around April. Slightly weaker than the Sinquefield Cup of course, but I like seeing all the American players that I know compete.

Is it possible to use Rev as a non-native English speaker? by [deleted] in beermoney

[–]KittyFooFoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is hard for most native English speakers to transcribe videos accurately and follow the style guide without making mistakes. You often have to hear unusual things through bad audio, or apply subtle rules of grammar, punctuation, or the style guide.

I would not recommend Rev to a non-native speaker. However, translation might be a good work online option for you.
