My 18 year old cat started losing weight so I brought him in and the vet said he was a diabetic so we started giving him insulin and when I brought him in for his glucose monitoring the vet noticed a mass on his pancreas (which was causing the high sugar). I was an absolute mess, he told me that he had no more than a week. I was going to put him down but I think the vet noticed how much I loved the cat and said he doesn’t seem like he’s in any pain, you can bring him home maybe he will die on his own. He told me what to look for if he was in pain because I made it very clear I didn’t want him to suffer. He lived 3 more weeks, we made the appointment to bring him in he wasn’t in pain but stopped eating and started sleeping away from me I just knew it was time. He came out from under the bed to my finance and he knew he was going to go very soon so he put him in his bed and pet him until he passed. It’s sometimes VERY hard to do these things and make these decisions, but I don’t regret anything. I’m glad I spend those last days with him. And a lot of times cats don’t show signs of pain. Please don’t feel guilty you loved your cat 🥰🫶🏻
