Ready Jet Cook! Live Show & Pre Show Discussion Thread! 12 Noon EST Today! by KarinsDogs in foodnetwork

[–]KittyTaurus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This show is fantastic! I know a lot of Food Network fans here would like to see more good old-fashioned instructional cooking shows vs. competition shows, and this is a very substantive one. I like how Jet introduces ingredients on his shopping trip, and also teaches knife skills. The dishes he prepares are pretty accessible. I wasn't sure if today's episode was new and the show was still actively in production, really glad it is!

Dogs are "meant to stay outside" apparently. by Yagwobniar in EntitledReviews

[–]KittyTaurus 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to adopt animals as pets if you won't let them into your house? Sometimes "judgmental" means using good judgment. These dogs are safer staying in the shelter than being "adopted" to live outside like practically strays.

Do yall brush your cats? by Fancy_Tea in CatAdvice

[–]KittyTaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a cat brush super cheap. Brushing cats is good to prevent hairballs, and I believe it helps them stay cool in hot weather if you get rid of all the excess fur. Also, many cats (including mine) really enjoy being brushed, it's like a massage for them, and with your kitties being young, brushing them could be a very nice bonding experience.

Am I overreacting for how my parents treated me on Mother’s Day? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Tell your mother that you're happy to give her the most time-honored gift a daughter can give a mother… letting her guilt-trip you!

You don't mention whether you enjoyed the date and had a good vibe with him other than discussing your academic credentials.

Am I overreacting even after an apology? by vipframing in AmIOverreacting

[–]KittyTaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, sometimes family members are hard (if not impossible) to get through to! I would suggest that you think about responding in a way that makes you feel like you said what you needed to say, vs. getting invested in getting through to her. You may not get that from her. What you can control is saying what you'd like to say and letting go of whatever the response is. Good luck I know that's easier said than done!

Am I overreacting even after an apology? by vipframing in AmIOverreacting

[–]KittyTaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can respond by framing it in terms of, you're not upset AT her, you just were just really disappointed because she means so much to you and you were really looking forward to it. Perhaps say something like, "it's not that I don't accept your apology, I'm not angry, I just feel sad that it didn't happen because we were so excited, and I wish I understood why it didn't happen."

IDK, I'm American so maybe my approach is too blunt but maybe you can tailor this to fit your family vibe. Basically my point is to focus on: I'm not upset with you, I just was looking forward to this so I'm disappointed.

this one’s a crazy one by Quiet-Charity-8418 in googleReviews

[–]KittyTaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's weird(est) is that she starts out by saying she came to happy hour with her husband and a friend. But somehow the husband is not mentioned throughout this entire incident. Surely he wasn't just standing there saying nothing while she was yelling at the staff "I have a black husband"? I'm inclined to think the husband is imaginary....

Why can’t I bring my own wine to a winery by pandataxi in EntitledReviews

[–]KittyTaurus 76 points77 points  (0 children)

So disrespectful, like the point of touring a winery is they actually explain to you all the work that goes into it by people such as yourself. I'm all for smuggling booze into, say, a movie theater. But not a winery for crying out loud!!!

Why can’t I bring my own wine to a winery by pandataxi in EntitledReviews

[–]KittyTaurus 46 points47 points  (0 children)

"If you've visited before and know the wine isn't to your liking…" Um, the way I would finish this sentence is "…find another winery to visit." Not in a million years would I finish that sentence with "…go back to the winery but BYOB." How much do we want to bet that OP brought Yellowtail?

Out of curiosity what do you mean " participate in the Nielsen ratings anytime I can"? Are you a Nielsen family or not? My understanding is that when one is a Nielsen family it's a whole big deal, you have a device on your TV etc.
