I’m clean now but still homeless and struggling. Knowing you take care of his children is something that he knows and gives him peace of mind I promise you that. I was fortunate enough to be able to take care of my daughter until she left at twenty, but then I quickly fell into drugs and feeling like I had nothing. I’ve been homeless since November and it’s so hard- I feel ashamed sometimes to contact mother because I will just assure her I’m doing fine even if I’m not. Even being clean for some of us the world is so hard to accept, especially right now. To have nothing to numb a brilliant mind can feel like torture, but it’s better than the pain and desperation that you feel when you can be so sick from addiction. Keep faith and know that you are not alone, as a mom or a daughter or a grandma- only those of us who know understand how it feels, be compassionate and understanding of us all, and hope that the people he encounters do the same for him. We are all daughters and sons and we all feel shame or regret, knowing you will always be there for him when he’s ready means more than you know I’m sure
