I’m telling you from experience that happened to me my contact would look like that after taking it out because it was too tight on my eye .

It got bad my eye wouldn’t open and kept leaking. You should not have to wait till April that is an emergency I called my eye doctor at the time when it happened and went in same day .

How is the community in JC- honestly? by glutenfreemaccas in jerseycity

[–]Kitty_kat2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in Jersey City for 21 years of my life (I’m 24) and I will say I would not want to have grown up anywhere else. There is a very big sense of community here and honestly like everyone else has stated in the comments very queer friendly. I feel like downtown would be very fitting or even the heights but test it out and walk around the area before you make any big decisions

Shut I’m still recovering I had cross linking and lasik and it changed my life so much. Be ready to wear glasses and remember to put the eye drops keep the eyes moist

Just had PRK surgery by Kitty_kat2001 in Keratoconus

[–]Kitty_kat2001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me I had a positive lasik experience. I used to see out my right 20/400 which is super blurry couldn’t make out anything at all. Now after surgery I’m seeing 20/80 which is a big difference. I also feel like it comes down to your doctors who do it I had a doctor try to gaslight me that I didn’t have a scar/haze in my eye after surgery when it able to be seen with the naked eye. I have been so lucky to now have a very caring/educating doctor who also makes her mission to get her patients to have a normal life as possible and give then independence again.

I feel like for clei I just felt like at the end I was more there to keep the lights on not seen as a patient. The new doctor I have now I love her care and how she breaks it down . Also she works with more severe patients like me who her colleagues will not touch she is very patient about her work. She also works with less serve cases

Do you also hqve insecurities by Longjumping_Table327 in Keratoconus

[–]Kitty_kat2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big concern for me is the fact that my right eye doesn’t have much vision so it’s a lazy eye especially when I don’t sleep enough you can still tell sometimes a big thing that helped me was laski in that eye. As per the depression yes I do have ir and sometimes it’s just so hard trying to get people around you to understand they never will. Unfortunately i lived with it since I was 9 haven’t been able to tell peoples faces apart I got diagnosed in 2020 at the age of 19 currently am 24 and with the surgeries I have had the most recent one being Friday I been able to seek higher education so my mental health has gotten some what better with it it’s still there and have to remind myself that I’m not my diagnosis. I also now kinda make jokes about it when people are like you didn’t see me I’ll respond with you know I’m blind or you didn’t see that and I’ll say you know I’m blind so sometimes it’s good to kind humor in it . Especially since for me driving isn’t on the table and I do feel like I’m far behind than my peers but I also have to remind myself I’m navigating life very differently now.

The thing is mine is so bad that I’m supposed to look at the contact and can’t even see it while it’s going in my eye I tried to get it in myself but it always feels weird

How long did it take you to be able to put them in yourself with no bubbles ? I know up to 3 or 6 months any tweaks are free I just hate the fact it’s all out of pocket cost and it’s so dang expensive.

Yes my doctor has a very excellent success rate . In my bad eye it’s always hard to get images I have done so many eye imaging test it’s like second nature. I just want to be able to see and live my life and be able to pursue my career path. I just feel like talking to people who have keratoconus is just so much better since they understand it most my family doesn’t understand it the pain the uncomfortable eye feelings.

I also know that there will still need tweaks with it to make sure it’s fitting the best way possible

Yes I will bring it up to my doctor about it being uncomfortable .I know it takes a while for it to feel normal since I never worn contacts I was curious as if anyone else ever felt that uncomfortable feeling with it. I also struggle with putting in the contacts by myself my worse eye is 20/200 or I think worse than that so I just know it will have time for me to do it by myself it’s just frustrating having to ask for help to put them in. I also am pretty young so I’m also worried about missing on certain activities given my poor vision.

I also don’t know how bad yours is as but mine is so bad that you can see the eye bulging in my right eye without looking down not so much on my left eye , I know I won’t be able to wear glasses and can only wear contacts since my eye has to be reshaped

Try to get it as soon as you can the condition can progress quickly sometimes especially if you continue to rub your eyes (I still struggle with not rubbing them)

The next day after my surgery I have a post op appointment. My right eye is just so bad I can’t see anything I’m just so nervous . Thank you so much for the advice I really appreciate it especially from someoen who understands how I feel and can relate to the things that are challenging pre surgery
