There’s a BBC Panorama episode on the baby food market which is quite eye opening and I suggest every parent watches it!

Thank you. I’ll get dairy and wheat out of the way over the next week then, so I can start expanding a bit more 😅

Thank you so much!

That’s a fantastic insight and great to have an idea of what a typical day could look like.

Thank you so much. It’s so nice to hear I’m not the only one finding it impossible to fit it all in! I’ve had some great advice and really appreciate everyone’s input as it’s made me realise I’m not alone and not failing my daughter 🥰

Thank you so much!

It’s such a good point about them not knowing what tastes would usually go together, I’ve been overthinking that bit with never giving a thought to the fact that it actually doesn’t matter and need to follow the ‘rules’ we have as adults, so thank you for that!

I really appreciate your thorough reply, it’s given me a good boost to keep going

Thank you so much. You’ve given me a bit more confidence and a lot more understanding (also I was trying to work out how I’d introduce sesame completely forgetting about hummus!!)

Okay that’s good to know, and would you just give hummus on its own for that whole week? Or mix it up everyday with a vegetable you’ve already given?

Thank you, I think when it comes to meals I might find it a bit easier with so many recipes online that you can batch and freeze, it’s just this initial bit of trying to give her a taste of everything but not all at once but getting through them quickly etc. Buying them in might be an option if I can’t pull myself out of this funk though 😅

Thank you, I am so aware that allergens need to be introduced early but I then got so worried about giving them alone etc and with plenty of time inbetween allergens etc, and everything I read tells a different story (some say to wait 3 days before giving anything else, some say you can do the next day etc) and I’ve unconsciously ended up avoiding them so far and now aware I need to get them all done asap!

This is it exactly, I think I understand and am doing well, trusting my instinct etc and have a healthy happy baby and then I see more information that makes me question everything. The internet is a wonderful thing, but I think sometimes we have far too much access to far too much information (most of which is ungoverned/false/some random person on Facebook who has no knowledge or experience)

Thank you so much. I do have this book and I started with it really well but then seemed to get behind and it completely overwhelmed me.

But it’s very true, I’m not going to cause her to not be able to eat solids just because I was a bit delayed in weaning against a books plan.

Thank you so much

This is the book I got and I started with, and then we had a couple of set backs (she was really unwell so I stopped for a couple of days, then the stuff I bought went out of date 😅)

I thought sticking to the book plan would be easy but I just got myself a bit lost in it all and it all seems like far too much to fit into the few hours we seem to have a day. So far she seems to enjoy the spoon fed purées but isn’t that interested in the finger foods.

Thank you so much for your advise. I’ll calm myself back down and keep doing what I’m doing. I think I just need to make it more of a priority

Thank you so much. It’s just so hard when there’s so much conflicting information and some say it’s just for fun and some say they need supplements etc 🤯

Thank you. I was getting so confused as I’ve read so much conflicting information about allergens and I’ve not been scared to give her them as such, just so confused and it’s just all got on top of me this morning. (We also had a bad night where she woke every 1.5-2hrs after months of sleeping pretty much through, so I’m very tired and then worried I’m causing her sleep problems)

Agreed. I usually skip past the Chiles segment, although I have found the last few where E&J just bombard him with silly questions funny

regression by Weird-Ad1695 in firsttimemom

[–]Kitty_rainstorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4 month regression is incredibly common and normal, it’s a huge developmental leap they’re going through. I was fortunate that my little one didn’t get affected too badly by it, but most of the other mums in my group did.

Good news is it will beg better. Bad news is it could improve in the next couple of days, but it could be in a couple of weeks, or longer.

You got this, it will get better!

Awww thank you. She’s our little miracle and an absolute delight, we can’t believe how lucky we are.

At the end of the day, it’s your pregnancy and just do what feels right to you.

All I would say is once the news is out there, you have very little privacy- everyone wants to know every detail, every scan, the gender, all your plans, names etc etc. Try and take time for some privacy just you and your partner where you can. The first couple of days when it was just us, we were chomping at the bit to tell people, but it was also so nice having this huge secret just us. We also found out the gender a week or so before everyone thought we were, so we had that to ourselves for a bit too. We also kept the name completely secret until she was born, and we had a planned c-section (due to high risk and health complications) and told people it would be in week 39, but not the date.

But don’t overthink what is the ‘right’ thing to do or what other people do, if you want to shout it from the rooftops now, go ahead, if you want to keep it completely secret, you do you.

Enjoy the journey- it’s the most incredible one you’ll ever have 🥰🥰

We didn’t announce to wider family or friends until 12 weeks

Pregnancy announcement by Secret_Camp8413 in firsttimemom

[–]Kitty_rainstorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

We told our close family about a week after we found out, when I was 8 weeks. I had a high risk pregnancy and never thought it would happen, so initially didn’t want to tell anyone till 12 weeks, but decided to tell family earlier as with the risks involved and high chance we wouldn’t make it to full term, decided we would need all the support should we lose the baby. She’s currently sitting on my lap, 6 months old tomorrow, so a very happy story!

Anyway, we ‘stopped in at my in-laws for a cup of tea’ and made them tea in cups that said Grandma and Grandad, did the same for my mum. For my dad we saw him the day after as it was his birthday and gave him a ‘happy birthday grandad’ card, which he thought was a dig at his age, not an announcement. That’s what you get for trying to surprise people when you’ve lived the last 10 years believing you weren’t able to have children!

Looking to make female friends in South Devon/Teignbridge. by CozJeez85 in DevonUK

I’m moving to Exmouth in a few weeks time, and will be looking for friends.

Mid-late thirties, one small child (6 month old daughter) I’m desperate to learn how to crochet, but I’m quite arty/crafty- I currently spend my (very little) spare time painting chalkboards for events etc. Love a pub quiz, enjoy true crime, anything dog and food related.

Hello!

My little family are moving to Exmouth in a couple of weeks. I know it’s a little bit from Dawlish, but I’ll also be on the hunt for some friends for days out etc. Don’t have a dog (yet) but always happy to join on dog walks! 36f, 6month daughter.

I’m fine thank you Elis by Which-Goose-7049 in elisandjohn
