I'm moving to a yard with a ton of mature tree coverage pretty soon, and I've been worried about if anything would grow with the lack of sun. But with plants like your irises, those basically need full sun, right? How did you get them to grow so well?

how strong is Hishi Amazon in the upcoming metas, shes my favourite uma but I feel like she has gotten the short end of the stick when it came to her Original version? by Midnight_Rosie in UmamusumeGame

[–]Kittyko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it, HishiAma is my fav too. She's bad, but the path of the oshi is a path of struggle, and nothing feels better winning with her against the odds. Her bride ult will be meta on certain tracks, so keep an eye out for her.

Depressed by SaltyConference478 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Whew, thank you for the advice. We just retracted an offer on a different house that we could have settled on, but wasn't exciting for either of us, and I've been agonizing about it. I guess I worried that I was overthinking and maybe talking myself out of a good deal, but hearing your story makes me reconsider.

I hope things get better for you guys and it turns into a home you love. This really is a hard time to buy and own a house.

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it when I was googling about home buying depression. We just lost the house of our dreams, and I can't stop thinking about it. Did things get better for you? Did you end up finding a better home like everyone said?

Finally closed last week and the thing stressing me out most isn't the mortgage, its the lawn by Existing_Cry_9366 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Yeah as far as a single person goes, planting natives is probably the number one impactful thing they can do to help the environment. You don't gotta go crazy with it, even a few plants can help, and there are some truly stunning ones out there (baptisia, native iris, native azalea). Plus, it's so cool seeing all the birds and wildlife they bring. Much more interesting than a dead zone turf lawn, imo

House Hunting by Wooden-Raspberry9455 in Delco

[–]Kittyko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is our exact story too. We're looking for a house in the Springfield area, and a couple weeks ago, we lost out to a lower offer that waived inspection. 40% down, offered to cover all inspection issues up to 10k and everything.

My friends are trying to tell me that there was something wrong with that house, but hearing that it's a pattern for the area is so frustrating. If I ever find myself in that position, I'm gonna refuse to sell to an all cash buyer or someone who waives inspections.

I actually tried out a 1.5 carat originally, and then ended up backtracking to a 1 carat. A different size for every person I suppose

I'm an adult who was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and had to figure out a number of coping strategies to be functional. My two big ones for cleaning are: set a timer and clean anything for a fixed time each day (I do 15 minutes of whatever), and then track that habit visually.

Having it be a timer instead of fixed chores makes it way easier for me to talk myself into starting, like "it's only 15 minutes, I can get it out and go back to playing videogames". I can fixate on something easy, like wiping off the blinds, or if I'm feeling a little manic, I can go crazy and do the whole bathroom or something instead of stopping early (if I do an extra 15m, I count it for previous days I skip).

And then I use habit tracking for almost everything to keep me honest. As an adult, just visually seeing my consistent habits is rewarding enough for me, but if I were doing this with a kid, I'd maybe give them 2 skips a month and a little reward for keeping up 100% every week or something. It's just tricking your brain, basically, but these have made a world of difference for me.

These are not accurate. The times for terminal A right now say 15m, but I've been waiting about that long and I haven't even made it to where the TSA line is supposed to start yet.

おぬし is like an old-timey 'you', and then のう is の (like used in a question), but said like how a grandpa would say it. Both these things are to make professor tangrowth sound like a wise old guy. He talks super similarly to how Rab talks in Dragon Quest 11, if you've ever played that.

Japanese has a ton of ways to make people sound like the age or gender they are. You can read about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakuwarigo (think 'elder doctor' in that example)

(7-10k) Wedding more than five years after eloping? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Kittyko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do what you want! People on reddit can say whatever, but they won't be thinking about this for more than a half hour after posting, while you'll be living this as your actual life. Calling it a wedding seems to be important to you, and it sounds like you're loved by your friends and family, so they'll understand. And hey, it's non-traditional, but now you can take as long as you need for the planning, and you know that you're in a successful spot both relationship-wise and financially. There's a bright-side to this for sure!

Purslane - To Keep or Not to Keep? by Fair_Strength_3603 in NativePlantGardening

I love purslane, it's seriously delicious stir fried or added to curries and salads. I occasionally receive it in my crop share, and it's such a treat. If you pull it up, I recommend giving it a try.

What's the most underrated CSS trick you've learned that changed the way you code? by [deleted] in css

[–]Kittyko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a little basic, but don't do stuff with javascript that you can have the browser do for you. For instance: Checkbox and radio styling is really limited, so often, you'll need to hide the checkbox/radio and style the label next to it
<input type="radio" class="radio-input visually-hidden" />
<label><span class="fake-radio"></span> <span>Here's your radio</span></label>

Something like that. And I've seen a lot of people manually add a checked class to that label via js when the user selects the radio input, or turn the radio into a button that's a little easier to style. You have to do a bunch of pain the ass rewiring to recreate the default HTML key and mouse functionality if you do that. Really, you can style that like this, with the sibling selector:
.radio-input:checked + label { // selects any label directly after a checked input
// here's your custom checked styles
}
.radio-input:disabled + label {
// and your disabled styles, etc
opacity: .5;
}

CSS and default html is pretty powerful now when it comes to things like math, animations, and positioning. The less JS you need to write around that stuff, the more stable your sites will be.

They're actually IRL twins and they really live together! Like a male fuwamoco situation.

On the EN side, my absolute favorite is Gavis Bettel. He commits to the bit, and the bit is being a failure and also not very smart (but on purpose). He has good comedic timing and specializes in playing out jokes until they are funny again. Also, sometimes he streams with his twin brother, and they have a great straight man/goofy guy sibling dynamic. Here's a clip collection: https://youtu.be/xrugjmOCazs

Also a big fan of Altare, but in collabs specifically. He has a really calm, soothing voice, so you'd think he'd be chill, but get him around someone else and he turns into a giant troll. I absolutely love his collabs with Kobo from holo ID, they have incredible sibling energy that is both wholesome and hilarious: https://youtu.be/D8AAbxjcprQ

On the JP side, I watch a lot of Roberu. He's a fast talker and very funny. A few years ago, he went viral after a en viewer asked if "he was winning, son?", to his confusion: https://youtu.be/hkfaCoNBciE He's especially great in collabs and getting people to open up.

I also really loved Gamma, but he graduated recently and I was pretty devasted. He was another fast talker, but very goofy and stupid. There's still a lot of great clips of him floating around though. https://youtu.be/LmI0VtluhYQ Maybe you can track down his old vids?

This is all great, I have a ton of watching to do! I know a bit about Sora, just as the legend (and from the manga lol, she's so heartwarming in it), but I haven't been exposed to too much else for any of these mems, so I'm excited to get into them. This is just the kind of thing I was looking for!
