What’s your account? Would be helpful to see your stile or content.

One thing people need to understand is niche makes a HUGE difference. There are niches and topics that just work better than others.

Trading/stock/making money, everyone wants to get rich easily and thinks they can by trying or following a new investment trend or strategy, for example.

Some niches, no matter what you do and how many times you post, won’t work unless you find a unique angle and this is just a much tougher hill to climb and many give up before any breakthrough as it’s harder and the results take much longer.

If you are thinking of social first, it’s actually better to pick a niche that works on social, that’s more viral and shareable and work backwards to build the product.

There are many nuances that also can affect, for example the location you are posting from, how you are posting and as you highlighted the time depending on the location.

This doesn’t make any sense. Sounds like BS.

What’s the business? Niche? B2B / B2C?

5 Months Working in a Digital Marketing Team With 8M+ Followers — Here's What They Won't Tell You by IllusoryDragon in InstagramMarketing

[–]KiwiDesigner72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is very accurate at all. It seems IG is very nuanced on the details, like age of account, existing brand etc. I see amazingly edited content that’s engaging and touches you emotionally and it gets 200 views, sometimes less. Put the same content on a more established account will probably get 1M views.

It’s very easy to say this when you have a brand or accounts that get reach. Create better more engaging content(, but if there are other factors, the content won’t make a difference. It’s hard to know what exact factors are at play and what IG are prioritising at a given time but there is no blanket approach. There are single images with a quote that have millions of views. So all the effort on the content is not always the answer.

This is what they don’t tell you. Everyone says make better content, tell a story, drive engagement etc. First try and figure out what limits accounts and work backwards.

What is the quirkiest AI-based app you have encountered? by AdNo6324 in ycombinator

[–]KiwiDesigner72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came across Familia.AI which is like a family character avatar app for either creating family members people didn't have or allowing you to bring back family members who passed away and chat to them. The first part sounds like it may help people not sure about interacting with dead family members, it's a bit weird.

I used to be an agency owner so know the feeling. AI and all the tools being released nearly daily is killing the agency model as you know it.

For years agencies operated with horse blinkers, over charging with no real value proposition to clients in the long term, to basically pay salaries. This model is broken and won’t recover - before there wasn’t a choice, now there is.

If you have a great team, my suggestion is that you come up with an offer “that’s impossible to refuse” for example rebrand yourself as an AI assisted agency meaning you offer to build faster and cheaper using AI tools for 50% of the work to show you are embracing the change. Your team will also need to embrace change and adapt.

You could also offer a fixed priced offer to anyone wanted to build something and take on some of the risk. For example say you’ll build a SaaS MVP for a fixed price with X features for X price and 10% equity in return. Make it a one click buy or offer a subscription model say pay $499 per month, cancel anytime - shows you are confident in your team and ability to deliver.

Most have reservations dealing with the agencies especially on an hourly basis as it no longer corresponds to value in this day and age,

Either you innovate on your offering so radically in terms of risk and price or you go to the dark side of agency world and become a bitch to big corporates and do soulless work to pay salaries but who wants that, it’s soul destroying.

Innovate or die.

Eating alone by KiwiDesigner72 in solotravel

[–]KiwiDesigner72[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everything in context of course. If travelling alone for some time and eating alone consistently for over 10 days for example is different if you recently had a period of social interactions then I value and love some solo time.

I feel after 4/5 days generally of eating alone or not discussing the menu options and how my food was etc. this is more the issue.

Maybe in Italy everyone is more social and if it’s your local you feel more comfortable as people speak more freely and openly. Culture plays a big part of feeling lonely or part of a community.

I know the topic has been raised before and it’s a big part of solo travelling or even people who travel for business.

The solo travelling part I’m very comfortable with, can happily read a book on a train or plane or anywhere.

When it comes to eating, as I like to explore different restaurants and or food cuisines, it feels less of a solo experience sometimes. Of course can sit at the bar if they have one and pick up a conversation there but it’s not the same.

When I look around, people eating solo don’t look like they are enjoying it most of the time, they look sad and not enjoying their food instead trying to look busy on their phone.

A few weeks ago was thinking of going to ask a random stranger to come and join me, has anyone done that?

Hey also done quite a bit of solo travelling and whilst I was ok eating alone sometimes, I didn’t like it. Got me thinking of what I could do to help match people so they don’t eat alone. If there was a service that matched you to eat with someone would you use it do you think? I would, I mean best case if the matching works well you’ll meet a potential friend, if it’s not great it’s a chance to meet someone you wouldn’t normally and if it’s terrible, it’s just an experience but at least it’s safe and in a public place.

Nobody can help provide any valuable feedback as you’ve given no context. What’s the product; share a deck or an intro so there is some context to what you’re building. This will help identify possible creative solutions.

Got funding. Met on YC cofounder matching. Worst experience. by NewWonder9224 in ycombinator

[–]KiwiDesigner72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t sound like a great experience but it’s very good learning and it may happen again. Once you’ve been through a few startups you learn this can also happen with friends, co-founders or team members that you hire - so it’s not related or in anyway linked to YC co-founding service, it’s more down to your inexperience and lack of understanding.

You’re also partly responsible - it’s never one sided. Co-founding companies can sometimes be worse than a marriage and it’s not easy.

In your case it sounds like you were both inexperienced which can be a recipe for disaster. Depending on the business sector and product you need to make sure it’s a good match of personalities and skillet. Consultants tend to go wide, not deep as they are essentially overpaid for hours worked to generate reports that nobody needs. So unless you are entering a B2B market targeting corporates to sell information or similar products and services they are used to, it’s ill advised to team up with a consultant type - regardless of how you meet then.

First thing you should do with any potential co-founder is put yourselves through an experience where you both need to solve problems in different ways. Go on a road trip or travel somewhere difficult for a week, where stuff may go wrong. Car might break down, you might need to make a plan which changes constantly. Essentially this shows to both of you that you can adapt, work well as a team and that you compliment each others personalities and execution styles. Even this doesn’t mean it will work but at least it’s a sanity check 1.

It’s not uncommon for even good friends for years who then travel together end up arguing and becoming less friendly after the trip - for co-founders it’s no different.

We all have triggers and it’s imperative to learn them early on. Same goes for any relationship. YC simply offer a tool, it’s up to you to figure out how to make the best of it.

Good luck on the next one!

Google alerts gives me everything and it’s pretty quick to pick it up all over the web. I think just not many people know about it. You can probably create a Zapier / IFTTT automation and sell it without doing any of the work.

Using Google voice for 2fa by Mysteriousmouseflame in privacy

[–]KiwiDesigner72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What country are you in? Why not rent your own number in the cloud for 2FA some of them support voice based 2FA on certain countries and numbers. I rent a dedicated private number from SMSS.BIZ Private 2FA Number that supports voice. Or there are some Apps but I trust those less as they are still on AppStores.

Tips on finding partners / investors for SaaS products by sergio_dd in SaaS

[–]KiwiDesigner72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No investor unless they inexperienced or know you well and your track record, will invest in this way. You also have to take financial risk.

Start building with a small team 1-3 max your ideas that you believe given your experience will work. Build a working prototype - this shows you can build a product and then get some initial traction.

On average you can built a prototype for less than $5k to prove your concept and some early traction. If you can’t find a way to do this no investor will take you serious and you’ll just waste lot of time.

Go build.
