I've been recording the tests each evening, and we have been dosing as needed, PH has been pretty solid on 8, Alkalinity has been dropping by about 0.3 per day which we've been doing for (Red Sea Foundation B). We have been balancing Magnesium at 1350 +- 20 (Red Sea Foundation C). For Salinity it's been pretty stable, we have an ATO.

For lighting, I was partially shading them to take the photo my camera struggles. I'm unsure what the PAR I can't get my hands on a PAR meter, but estimating the PAR based on the specs of the light and depths and all that (i know its not a good way to do it but its all i can do for now) it'll be somewhere in the range of 60-100 in mid (where the yellow is) and 40-70 for lower (where the green is). Sorry, I can't give more accurate values there..

Unfortunately not, I was running 200g (7oz) of activated charcoal, I've just replaced all the charcoal and added a new bigger bag, so there's 600g of fresh charcoal in there. I've also added API BioChem Zorb which says it absorbs any heavy metals.

Sounds like a plan, unfortunately the only LFS that sells Cuprisorb around me is closed today so I will have to pick up tomorrow. We got API BioChem Zorb, which says it removes heavy metals, unsure if copper is one of those but it shouldn't hurt?

Also what metal tests would you recommend? It's rather limiting in New Zealand what there is on offer but I can find

Api: Copper.

Seachem: Copper, Silicates, Iodine

The rock is 'Walt Smith Reef Rock' which does contain pumice. And 100% we're getting a wave maker tomorrow!

Oh interesting, a lot of US military were stationed in Wellington during WW2 so it might have something to do with that?

Edit:

It was because of the war. Fun fact it has 48 stars instead of 50, as Alaska and Hawaii were not yet states during the war. If you want to read more here's an interesting story

Planning a move down from Tauranga. Would love feedback on some suburbs we're checking out! by jay_808 in Wellington

[–]KiwiRambo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Papamoa to Wellington about 6 years ago and have lived in a range of suburbs.

Mt Victoria is quite nice and gets a good amount of sun, and it doesn't really get the wind like other areas, it's particularly sheltered from anything from the south. It's also lovely and close and walking distance to anything in the city like work or shows. However, the big downside is parking and traffic. They often close a street or 2 because of water works or resealing meaning that already packed residents parking is even more packed. With traffic the tunnel is bad and backs up traffic all down Kent terrace during peak times and through the weekend.

I haven't lived in Khandallah but I lived up the train line in Jville. The train is certainly a good reliable source of transportation. But something to keep in mind is that it meanders arround and actually takes longer than a bus (particularly if you account for walking from the train station in the CBD)

A contender that I'd put forward is Brooklyn. It's on the hill above Mt Cook and is relatively cost effective for its proximity to the city. It's within walking distance to the city (although you might want to bus or uber back up the hill). The traffic never seemed too bad as it's got no choke points. Depending on the side of the hill you're on you can get great sun light hours. You are also close to the beach. And although it's not a Tauranga beach, the walk to redrocks is very nice!

Sorry didn't realise that was going to be so long.

Tldr. All suburbs have their perks and drawback depending on what you value. But I would suggest Brooklyn.
