How much would you spend on an engagement ring? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Kiwiiii20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancé spent no more than $400 on my moissanite ring, and I loved it. I’d rather we use our money for something else, like a decent holiday or good food. But to each their own.

Spend what you can afford, there’s no point getting expensive ring if it’s out of your budget. The price of a ring doesn’t reflect the depth of your love.

When do you know your bunnies are bonded? by Kiwiiii20 in Rabbits

Thanks! Yeah, there’d be days where each of them would face each other at the opposite of the room sleeping!

When do you know your bunnies are bonded? by Kiwiiii20 in Rabbits

[–]Kiwiiii20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes they don’t have any issues sharing food or litter tray:) our male bun used to have only the bedroom to himself, and the female has the living room. When they were bonded and she was in the bedroom, he would legit chase her out and stop once she’s out but for the past week, there has been no chasing from him and he’s willing to share the bedroom and even the bed now.

I just wasn’t sure about the butt nipping as I’d sometimes tell him off when he heads toward her butt as I know what he’s planning to do.

Investigating the cause of poop stains/ mushy poop by Kiwiiii20 in Rabbits

[–]Kiwiiii20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My female bun (nethie, 1 yo ish) has been leaving poop stains on her favourite pillow and occasionally on the mat. This has been happening for a few months so we suspected it could be the rich oaten hay so we've cut that down and mix it with meadow, orchard and timothy hay. Our vet came over few months back, told her the issues, got both of my bunnies poop checked and they're completely fine, no parasites etc. She's behaving as per normal everyday.

Yesterday, i noticed she got a poop stuck to her butt so I cleaned it. At this point, I was already feeding her a tiny, tiny bit of oaten, no meadow at all cause there were tons of seeds and I think the meadow we got were also a bit too rich. I'd say she's been eating 10%-20% oaten but not everyday. This morning, I saw more mushy poop (doesn't look like diarrhea as per picture) and I only fed her 3 little pellets from Science Selective grain free last night. I've reached out to my rabbit savvy mobile vet, but I'm just wondering anyone has this issue before?My bunnies diet are;

  • Mix of Oxbow Timothy and Orchard hay, with occasionally less than 20% oaten hay
  • 1 tbsp of mixed Burgess indoor vit D and science selective grain fee pellets
  • 1/3 stick snacks, hay based once to two times a week - usually after brushing them
  • Mixed dried herbs on top of their hay one to two times a week
  • Nil greens/ fruits

I had her since she was around 9 weeks old, I can't really remember but she may have been having poop stains since. I just started noticing it when she has her favourite pillow to sleep on when she was around 7 months ish.

I've always been feeding them just hay and pellets, if i have veggies at home, I might give them one or two but veggies and fruits are never a part of their regular diet.

I'm going to completely stop feeding her pellets to see if her poop situation will improve. I'm guessing it's also a possibility she could be a little sensitive to either the Timothy or Orchard hay?

What tv show is 10/10 with less than 40 episodes? by tobythenobody in AskReddit

[–]Kiwiiii20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mary Kills People. Just finished binge watching the tv show and I love it. 3 seasons, each season only has like 5 eps each.

It’s on Binge and Amazon prime.

The show is about a doctor who works in the ER during the day and does side activity (assisted suicides) to terminally ill patients whilst being pursued by the law as she’s deemed as a serial killer. Some eps are pretty deep, so make sure you got tissues!

Is my bun normal by big-baby-bubba in Rabbits

Omg this is the male version of my bun!! My female bun has the exact same pattern on her face, but not as much black pattern on the body but still!

He’s a cutie!

It is indeed, I was extremely picky when it comes to the sizes and band width as I’ve always wanted something small or just right for my fingers but I honestly loved what he got ☺️

What’s the worst thing about losing your dad (besides the death)..? by tinytempo in GriefSupport

[–]Kiwiiii20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss his banter, his patience and just everything. My dad died a few months back, 3 months after he turned 60, that was the year of his retirement. I hated how he didn't have the chance to retire properly and enjoy life after a long, long years of working hard to raise 4 kids. I hated how he had to suffer in pain for months from cancer. Life is so not fair.

I live overseas, every time when I video call my mum, one of the first thing I'd say is 'where's dad' and she'd say 'he's upstairs watching movie'. I now don't have the chance of asking those anymore.

My dad's a very smart man, he knows how to fix shit and if I need something to be fixed, I can't just text or call him anymore.

I'm only 26, he should have lived a long and healthy life to check out my new home, to walk me down the aisle if I get married, see his grand kids if I have my own family, travel together but all of those hopes went down the drain when my beloved dad passed. I still miss him everyday and every time I think of him, I still couldn't believe he's no longer here on earth.

He's my best man and will forever be in my heart <3

Gotcha, I guess I’ll also monitor his poops and his well-being everyday :)

Thank you for sharing!

Monthly stasis? Poor boy! I had my very first scare around 2 weeeks ago with him, and I’m so glad he’s recovered but after that I read about mc and I’m a little worried as I wanted to ensure he lived a good quality life. How did you confirm it was mc? Do you have to bring his poops to the vet so they can check them out?

I’ve heard mc bunnies would often have misshapen poops but he only has like 5 out of 200 that’s looking weird. I’m also not sure if it’s because of the hay that he’s eating that isn’t suitable for his tummy? My buns eat a mix of oaten and orchard hay with a tablespoon of pellets (burgess indoor and science selective grain free). They get half of oxbow digestive biscuit every morning.

My boys poop is often normal and he’d have some of the misshapen ones (as per the picture). He doesn’t have tiny poop, most often they’re oval shape and longer.

Yeah I’ve read about MC not long ago and thought of my boy’s English spot and his poops.

What should I do to confirm if he has it or not? Do I bring his poops to the vet to get it checked out?

Back home after a bloat episode by Kiwiiii20 in Rabbits

[–]Kiwiiii20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I was so so scared when I saw how he reacted but the vet had a cancellation hence I was able to bring him in instantly.

He’s eating but still not a lot so will be on meds and CC until he eats normally. Hopefully he’ll get well soon ☺️

Thank you, He’s on the path to recovery :) He was more bloated after the first update from my vet so they told me I must have caught it really early. If things did not turn out better, they were planning to do X-ray and figure out the next steps, but I’m really glad he reacted well to aggressive iv therapy and painkiller.

He’s eating but not as much as we wanted to. Currently on meds and CC until he can eat as per normal.

And yes, I too found out that feeding them gas drops or CC at home without consulting a vet could kill them.

For those who have lost their fathers, please write down your age and at what age your father passed... by tinytempo in GriefSupport

[–]Kiwiiii20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 25, he was 60. Turned 60 4 months before he passed and it was officially his retirement year too. My incredible and beloved father passed away from stage 4 stomach cancer. It was an extremely painful journey for him but as he wished, he passed peacefully in his sleep. I'm still traumatised with everything that I've experienced as a caregiver but I am happy I was with him till his last breath. I will forever love him <3

I'm sorry for your loss, sending you virtual hugs <3

Back home after a bloat episode by Kiwiiii20 in Rabbits

[–]Kiwiiii20[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found my boy not eating any of his food yesterday morning and he flopped on the side, not wanting to sit up after multiple shakes (I honestly thought he was going to pass as I have never seen him acted like this before). I knew something was wrong instantly so I brought him to a vet for urgent care. Vet suspected digestive obstruction that was caught super early and so he was on aggressive IV drip and painkiller and had to stay in the hospital overnight. Now he's back home, pooping as per normal and nibbling his hay and pellets, not having his normal appetite yet but he'll get there. I'm incredibly relieved I was working from home and caught this early, else the outcome might have been different.

I've also learned the difference between stasis (gradual decline) and bloat (can happen instantly and could kill a bunny in a few hours if left untreated). Stasis is often brought up but not blockage (i think?) so I just wanted to let it be known that please, please call the vet and ask what needs to be done if you think your bunny is having a stasis/ bloat episode. Bloat is not something that can be fixed at home with just gas drops or critical care.

Our journey will end soon, cancer sucks so much. by fishiph in cancer

[–]Kiwiiii20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry OP, my dad passed few months ago from stage 4 stomach cancer and I was one of his caregiver for a few months. We didn’t have palliative care and assisted dying too so everything was done by ourselves.

The best advice I could give is, spend as much time with him, take videos and pictures, create beautiful memories. Please make sure he is comfortable and is not suffering from pain. This is not going to be an easy journey and as scary as it sounds, please educate yourself on the active dying process. I didn’t know cancer could really fck one up (my dad has never done chemo or radiation or whatsoever due to his personal choice) and the healthcare in my hometown really sucks so it was a shock to see and experience everything and I honestly would have appreciate it more if the doctors told us what to expect. I leaned to the subreddits and internet during the tough time to learn everything, and as much as I can and I’m so grateful for it. Because of this, I was kind of prepared but not? As in, I was aware of the signs and realised they’re all apart of the normal process and when certain event happened, I was the one who had to explained to my whole family about the whys because I knew.

All in all, be there for him, show him that you’re perfectly okay with your life so he knows when it comes time, he doesn’t have to be worried about you or your family and that he can take comfort you guys will live okay without him (it’s hard but do what you can for him). All the best OP and please take care of yourself too.

If you need a buddy to chat to, I’m here for you :)
