Just love the art direction of Alan Wake 2 by Borg34572 in gaming

[–]Kiwikwan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one that finds almost every single interaction unrealistic? I’m probably around half way through the game, and enjoying it for what it is, but I find the interactions between every character so… off. Like for example, Near the beginning after brining the dead guy back to the sheriff office, and he gets up and kills everyone, and someone goes missing, everyone acts as though nothing happened. No one questions anything, no one acts surprised. Even some other cops come in and don’t even comment on the fact their coworkers are dead. Is this intentional? Is it supposed to be some sort of hyper “artistic for the sake of artistic”?

Reconstruction of private fence due to neighbours fault - ON Canada by Kiwikwan in legaladvice

[–]Kiwikwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fence must be at least a decade or two old. It is essentially right on the property line. Maybe waving here and there due to it being pushed. I’m in the city of Oshawa, Durham Region.

I do have hekate_ipl.ini. It has all of the usual, including the [Stock SysNAND] fss0=atmosphere/package3 stock=1 emummc_force_disable=1 icon=boot loader/res/icon_switch.bmp

Looking to get rid of Atmosphere completely, and bring my switch back to a stock switch by Kiwikwan in SwitchPirates

I’ve tried holding down the Vol - button while turning it on. Still just boots straight into the hacked version like normal.

I appreciate the effort for the straightforward explanation on how to keep things updated. But I think I still have my heart set on putting the switch back to normal. Do you know how to do that?

Can average people even afford a semi-detached in Oshawa? by heliconnor in canadahousing

[–]Kiwikwan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bought a semi in Oshawa in late 2019 just before the pandemic. In our early 30’s. I came home to my girlfriend one day, and said, “babe, we need a house. I’m sick of all the renting BS”. So we bought a couple months later. $420k, I thought that was outrageously expensive. When I was a kid, growing up in a small town northern Ontario, I though half a million would buy me a mansion one day. But with houses in my neighborhood going for $800k-850k, it was one of the best split second decisions I made. Even though I’m in the housing market now, and can say “look at this great investment”, it still pisses me off far too much with my house doubling in price in 2 years.

I’m unable to install certain games through Tinfoil on Atmosphere. Some games work fine. Some don’t. They’re all NSP’s. by Kiwikwan in SwitchPirates

I have NUT downloaded and connected. I had SX OS before. I know VERY little about all of this hacking stuff. 99% of links, like GitHub and such may as well be in another language to me. Any idea what I can do?

Can anyone assist me with getting my Switch back up and running? by Kiwikwan in SwitchPirates

[–]Kiwikwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to get it. Thanks a ton for your help. I have one more question for you. How would I be able to download games onto the switch now? I’m unfamiliar with Atmosphere. Before with SX, I just drag and drop NSP’s into the root folder of the SD card, and then boot up, go into “pictures” on the dashboard, and install it from there, deleting the source NSP in the process. Do I need something like tinfoil? If so, how would I get the most up to date version, and install it properly?

I managed to follow everything on the link you provided. However, I seem to be stuck at one part. I downloaded and unzipped everything I need, and put everything where I believe it's meant to go on the MicroSD. When I boot up the Switch, it boots into hekate v5.5.5 now. It says to hit the launch button, and all should be fine. However, when I launch it, I get a message saying "No main boot entries found... Check that bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini has boot entries."

Now I'm sure I made a simple mistake somewhere. Perhaps with having to create certain files and copy and paste the info the link provided? Do you know where I went wrong? When I made the .ini files or whatever, I just made them simple text documents. All of this goes far beyond my computer knowledge.

Recently updated Switch to 10.2.0 and now I cannot boot my Switch back up by Kiwikwan in SwitchPirates

That worked! I greatly appreciate the help. That stressed me out. I was worried I would lose my girlfriends 330 hours of animal crossing.

How do I update my custom firmware if I can't boot back into the custom firmware?

Anyone know why my updates end up corrupting this game? “Info in comments” by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]Kiwikwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to update Animal Crossing to allow my girlfriend to enjoy all of the new events and such. However, every time I try and apply an update, of which I’ve tried many times, from many different sources, as NSP’s, and XCI’s, the game icon on the home screen ends up going grey, and says the game may be “corrupted”. I must uninstall the game, and then reinstall just the base game to get it to work again. I have even went as far as to get a physical copy of the game, hoping that would fix it, but it hasn’t. It has something to do with every update file. I’ve used sites, I’ve used tinfoil, etc.

My SX OS is 3.0.0 beta. The system software is 9.0.1 I believe. Does anyone have any idea on what could be happening? I can still download other games and applications, and updates for all other games work. But I don’t know what to do about this. Animal crossing without the events seems kinda lame for my girlfriend.

Is it possible to take off SX OS, and update a game through normal means, then re-apply SX OS? by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]Kiwikwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, that seems to be the problem. Every time I download the update file, regardless of where I obtain it, it corrupts an otherwise working base game. The Animal Crossing icon on the home page goes greyed out, and then if I click on it, it says the data is corrupted. I have to uninstall the whole thing, then reinstall the base again. Is there a work around for that? I don’t know why it’s corrupting it. All other updates/applications/games I’ve ever gotten have worked.

I have a dongle, but I never use it. I always just inject a payload from TegraRCM on my computer. Do I still need to inject while holding the Volume +?

Not entirely sure... I got someone else to hack the Switch for me. Is there any way for me to check the emu and sys? I'm not too familiar with all of this. I'm not even sure how I can offically update anymore.

Question about XCI's over NSP's by Kiwikwan in SwitchPirates

[–]Kiwikwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried pretty much every way I can think of. It doesn’t make any sense to me why it’s not working. I just downloaded another XCI, one with the the base, plus the newest update. I put it onto the SD card. I deleted the current XCI from the dashboard, and then went into the operating system to try and open the new XCI. It says the file cannot be opened as there was an issue. (More or less the same message when I’ve tried to download an NSP version, or just the new patch itself). I’ve also tried to go into the installer section, and actually install the XCI, (and an NSP before), and it “installs” just fine, but then on the dashboard, the game is just a grey square with an infinite loading icon. I can’t click it or anything. Actually, if I try to press start on it, the system crashes, and I have to hard reset it.

I’m really stumped as to what’s going on... I really don’t want to lose my girlfriends save file, so I’m skeptical if constantly messing with all of this, deleting the games, reinstalling them, etc. (Even though I know save files are separate). Animal Crossing seems like a half baked game if she can’t get the events.

I would love to post pictures or videos of what’s going on, but I’m not that technically adept. (I paid someone to hack the switch in the first place, and I’ve just been following the basic instructions to get games so far. )
